V8 interceptor cost

I was looking at blowin' the Cleveland with a 6:70to1 Weiand, at least 15-30% under-driven (for longevity of the mill) and put a 1-2 second burst of silly stuff (mostly for show) connected to the big red button. It should be at least in the 400-450 pony range. I can afford to dump say 8G for the drivetrain over the course of a couple of years...after all, it's worth it.

A couple months ago, there was an involved discussion on the feasibility of making an 'on/off' blower. The technical challenges are difficult, and possibly not worth the effort. A supercharged 351C should provide enough power and 'coolness' without the added maintenance headaches, etc.

You'd be talking HUGE costs, perhaps double the cost of the rest of the project, and there's still no guarantee it would work. Like Bronze 21 says, a full time blower would give you all the performance you could use, and it would still be pretty special. Of all the replicas out there, very few (Scott Smith's comes to mind) actually have functional blowers.

yeah i would at least want a functional blower. I read those past topics but i dont know enough about cars to completely understand their ideas let alone think of any myself. I plan to take auto shop classes eventually though. I understand the cost would be quite large, and yeah, I would want to be sure it was going to work first. I would still be willing to pay for it if i could, but i doubt ill ever be able to come up with that kind of money. though, my future wife is going to school for pharmacy ($80k/yr), so there is hope!

But the most realistic replicas in the world are made right here in Perth Australia (my opinion anyway) & they don't have functioning blowers since the real Interceptor did NOT have a functional blower either.


But the best piece of advice that I can give you (was given to me by Peter Barton) listen to all the advise you get from here BUT build what you want as at the end of the day it's your car.

Dave, Are you referring to Gordon and Grant's operation? They're the ones I want building my replica (once I can afford it, that is.)

Dave D, yeah i know the real life interceptor had a mock set up, It would be the best replica of the movie world interceptor. And i dont care that much about having the most accurate replica, i just want the basic idea but with the working blower and switch. I would even have it converted to left hand drive if that werent insanely hard to do and not worth it at all/.

I have also looked into this in the past & in the end I was thinking of fitting both, that is a real under bonnet supercharger so that the car had the power & then have the switch set-up to start spinning the fake blower belt. Or if I had wanted the surge of power to come in with the switch I was going to set-up a turbo on the motor & wire both the fake blower & a bleed valve to the switch (I had a similar bleed set-up on my last 2 turbo'd cars). By doing this at the flick of the switch the boost would rise up & you'd get the feeling that the blower had just come in.


I'd be surprised if a left hand conversion was that expensive to do, here is Australia people are importing & converting Mustangs & other US cars everyday.

Are Aussie laws such that a conversion is required? Here in the states, as long as you drive on the proper side of the road, it doesn't matter where the wheel is. Conversions are quite rare, and would probably be expensive as there are few businesses that do the work. (other than converting our LHD to RHD for postal vehicles) Most imports are just left as they are. Besides, peoples reactions to seeing the car going down the road with no "driver" sounds like fun to me

you can keep your wheel on the otherside, but you sure as sh*t had better have a bigarse sign on the back of your vehicle warning everyone, i think thats all the law asks.
