It's all up to the person, some people just want to put a costume together to feel good but others will put themselves in debt and an early grave trying to get EVERY little detail exactly right only to find that they're too fat or bald or whatever to make it work. I think people should do whatever they can to please themselves and maybe one day please somebody else. It really feels good to build a costume that people will recognize and to wear it at a convention or costume party. It's really not worth it to go through great feats and death-defying trouble just to make things perfect. Sorry, got a little rightous there.
