Re: Total Film - May 2015
OK, they claim that the stunts are real even if we see some composite shots for some of them... But the whole movie seems to be heavily modified (the colors, the skies, the sets etc etc etc...). I ask one guy who was on the shooting, from the begining to the end, about the CGI, and he told me "yes there's a lot". He wasn't speaking about the stunts, he was speaking about all the rest. So maybe Leadcounsel is crashing the party, but it's obvious there are a LOT of CGI. I mean A LOT.Stamper wrote:Ban leadcouncel from the boards, he is crashing the party and his posts aren't constructive. He is trolling, plain and simple.
After, who give a SHIT about that ? Is it really important ? We'll look at the finish movies, if it looks fake, I mean, if beyond the stunts the sets, the places, if the inside of the Citadel look fake, the colors I don't know what look fake, we'll can discuss about it. Now the debate "There are CGI !" vs "No there are not !"...

I have never understood the hate for cgi, if it looks good who cares?
Re: Total Film - May 2015
A composite is a composite. It's not CGI if it's done digital. The method is the same as analog only better.
It's obvious re the storm sequence that the storm is CGI (what else could it be), but if the director says all the stunts we see in it are real, I'll believe him. It's not like he stucked an animated Happy Feet style sequence in there.
Anyway to constantly read negatives to every info posted here is getting a bit boring. This is a section of the board for those who love the idea and the pix and trailers of the new movie.
If leadcouncel constantly crashes all the threads, it's getting a bit thin. Perhaps give him his own negative board section so that he can ramble alone in the ether, and leave us enjoy the forthcoming film.

The amount of ignorance and negativity from people claiming to be fans of this franchise - and without seeing more than two minutes of the movie - is getting pretty depressing.

As stated before, every modern movie - big-budget or not - has some CG fx work or manipulation involved. That's how modern movies are made. Fury Road is no different in that regard. However, Miller is referring to the stunt work in the movie and any tit could tell you after ACTUALLY SEEING THE MOVIE, the stunts are the real thing. Oh wait, how would I know? Because the cut I saw was a rough cut, without most of the fx work added, so all you could SEE were the real stunts.henry2 wrote:I have never understood the hate for cgi, if it looks good who cares?

The issue always seems to stem from that because Miller never had the technology, production/stunt rules and laws in place back in the 80s as they do now that Fury Road won't be a true Mad Max film.seriz wrote:OK, they claim that the stunts are real even if we see some composite shots for some of them... I wish this could be reposted every time the "its all CG bullshit! UGH" is brought up.blackmocco wrote:As stated before, every modern movie - big-budget or not - has some CG fx work or manipulation involved. That's how modern movies are made. That is Coma-Doof Warrior played by iOTA, an Australian singer/songwriter. Coma is hooked up to a cord suspension hanging over the stage with a double guitar that blows out flames as a flamethrower.Mad-max wrote:Anyone know about the sound truck with that person playing a double neck guitar in the posted pic's here?

A couple of years ago we saw a stunt board showing Max involved with a complicated set up involving fighting Coma and various Imperitors on the stage and using the cord suspension to swing around off the truck, ala Thunderdome fight.

I meant if the cgi enhancements look good who cares if it's cgi.

Re: Total Film - May 2015
Ambient enhancements, like adding dust, removing stunt safety equipment and adjusting color, is fine. The problem with using cgi is that once a director/producer goes down that path things start to get silly. They begin stretching the believability of the action, it's just too easy to go for 'a little bit more'. The appeal of Mad Max was the gritty realism of that world. The wrong application of cgi and that realism is lost and it just becomes a cartoon. Look how Fast and Furious has to keep trying to top themselves with each movie. It started off silly and just got worse.
I would be willing to bet that the two sides of the cgi argument (in general, not necessarily this film) can probably be divided along age related lines. The older crowd knows it's fake and it detracts, the younger has been raised on cgi movies, anime and incredibly detailed video games so they don't see a problem. In fact, maybe they don't see a distinction any more, it's just all the same.
