This was spotted at Pinjarra's '10th All Australian Car Day 2013' last Sunday:

Didn't see it for myself but grabbed an image from this website:

Notice the indicators under the front spoiler... anyone know who owns this Western Australian example?

Spotted this on eBay today:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/140981936577 ... 1423.l2649

Was only two bids on it but it's now gaining momentum.

Here's what the seller responded with when asked about the history:

This Car was an exact / identical Replica of Mad max car displayed since in old Planet Hollywood and now Star Bar on George st in Sydney We had to remove it from there safely and quickly .Due to really bad access and narrow doors , We had to unbolt what we could unbolt and cut the rest of the body by grinder into manageable peaces .I know it is a total waste and we are more upset than anybody else .Please forgive us .I hope there is somebody out there with a good coupe shelf and will use our parts to rebuild this Australian LEGEND We kept all the parts as shown Please email me your email and ill send you a link to my box with all the photos of the parts we have its too many to list .my We have everything except for engine and gear box Some wiring for lights is also missing .Inspection is recommended

Well at least now we all know where the Planet Hollywood/Star Bar BOB is... on eBay! Snap it up now!

So after Planet Hollywood went bankrupt in 2002:

THEY CUT UP A COUPE INTO BITS TO GET IT OUT TO SAVE IT?!?!?!?!??!

ARE THEY FUCKING RETARDED?!?!??

If it didnt fit through the door how did it get in the building in the first place?
What about dragging it sideways through the rollar door ?

Jesus christ they ruined a perfectly good car just to "save" it...

I was thinking the same thing about the photos of fury road vehicles, the silver bob, chargers etc, They are so hard to find now, or very expensive, and they have ruined them. This is just crazy, but I suppose some people dont have the same appreciation of old cars like others.

Does anyone know the history of this car? who built it etc?

The car was originally lowered in by crane through the roof when Planet Hollywood was built. That has always been the problem getting that car out again, the only way to get it back out in one piece is to remove parts of the roof, and pull it back out with a crane. Expensive.

The current owner did contact me a month or two back, they were actually thinking about pulling it out the right way, but it was all going to come down to cost - what was it going to cost to take apart the roof, and use a crane, versus what was the car worth. Given the costs of the crane job, I did kind of expect it wasn't going to be viable for them to spend the money to try and save the car. As rare as they are, this was basically a rolling shell with no engine, and you could go out and buy the same thing from a private seller tomorrow for less than it was going to cost to remove this one with a crane. Unfortunate, but there you have it.

What a shame, Peter do you know who originally built that replica?

The info I had was that Jay Ohrberg built the car. He also built the car sold at Kruse auctions some years back. I gather he actually imported enough parts to build a few cars (I am guessing originally for the Planet Hollywood job), and ended up building at least two replicas. I've never had any contact with Jay directly (I tried once many years ago, but didn't necessarily have accurate contact info back then), and never confirmed this directly, it was just info I came across from discussions with others.

Cool Peter,

http://www.jayohrberg.com/Mad_Max.html

So from the looks of the images on Jay's website, it looks like the vehicle was built in the states, shipped to Sydney and installed in Planet Hollywood.
