Any reason the car is an automatic? My best guess is simpler for the stunt driver. He can concentrate on driving instead of shifting. Easier for the actor to drive as well or he can't drive a manuel.furyroadcars wrote:Correct, but nobody noticed the other item of detail near the shifter?Bomber wrote:That looks more like a shifter for an automatic than a 4 speed like the original had.

Odd it's an auto. If that is the blower switch why would it be mounted so low?
Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
Maybe there is one interceptor which is automatic for the actors to drive like Aunty's car in TD and there is another manual gear version for close up driving shots?

According to Tom Hardy himself he can only drive automatics. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entert ... -cars.html
He only just learned how to drive two years ago.Yes, he knows that as that release date approaches, he’s going to be asked to be on “Top Gear,” the BBC’s ultimate “petrolhead programme.” And that he’ll have to do at least as well as Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz at the driving stuff when he does.
“Yeah, they’ve already asked. Funny you should mention that. They want me to come and do their ‘lap.’ But I can only drive automatics. And I can only drive Audis. I don’t think Jeremy Clarkson (one of the hosts of the show) would go for that. But he does rather like Audis, doesn’t he? (He does. A sucker for German cars). ”

That's just embarrassing...gains a million pounds of muscle for Bronson, Interceptor has to be automatic because he won't learn to drive stick.Mad Max RW wrote:According to Tom Hardy himself he can only drive automatics. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entert ... -cars.html

never seen this shot before....the date indicates its probably from when they were doing some testing in Broken Hill. Also notice how there is writing on the front cow catcher - looks to be still a work in progress, cool picture!
