Regarding the Holden VK Commodore

Post by ajs »

Was Holden inpired by the Interceptor/Pursuit Special when they designed the Commodore?

I have always noticed how the front end of the Commodore looks like the front end of the Interceptor.

Apologies if I have put this in the wrong section.

The fox body Mustangs front reminds me of the Interceptor.

Ahhh no....

The design of the VK was just a natural design progression from the orginal VB commodore.... then the VC... etc etc.
The VB was essentially a copy of the German build Opel Commodore.

The shape of the headlights was essentially the same on the VB to the VK... (which were the same shape on the German Opel Commodore).
They got bigger with the VK but were the same shape.

The single slot grill was used on the VK SS to help it look different from the stock (boring) VK.

With Dutch licence plates on it. It looks like a Dutch Opel meeting.
That car at the far left is an Opel Kapitan from 1961. It has the old Dutch pre 1978 licence plates. According to the Dutch road administration the car is green. (Probably a very dark greyish green)
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.
