does anyone own the MFP Clothing Branch horsehide Max jacket

Post by ReturningSon »

Im currently in the market for a nice horsehide and want something quality. i know abbyshot makes a replica but im just a little too unimpressed by the quality and dont want it in cowhide. Does anyone here actually own the japanese MFP clothing brand max or goose jackets? If so, hows the quality and pics would be awesome too.

(and if you want to sell yours, all the better) :D

I had MARS leather in Melbourne make me a replica back in the 90's. it fits exactly (well it did, theres a little more lumber in the yard these days...). Cost me 500 bucks from memory.

thats cool. I assume it was a horsehide? Im most interested in the MFp clothing one because theirs seem really accurate and I know that japanese garments like these are usually quality pieces but i have yet to see a fan review/pics of one in hand...

The jacket doesnt really look accurate at all. MFP is still active right? Their site is still up and running. They even have a page where they are working on doing international orders. Just want to see some actual fan pics and info before I try to hunt one of these down.

Actually that is one of the most accurate Goose jackets I've ever seen. Goose's jacket was different than Max's and the others. It has the stitched radial padding on the elbows and under the shoulder pads. Of course it is lacking the for arm guards but they are a personal touch.

yeah, i found the site and you are right. (Im just getting into Max jackets). But i still think, judging from the materials used and its construction, that MFP is the best that money can buy.

Well certainly the most expensive that money can buy.
I've owned an Abbyshot jacket for several years now, and wear it regularly, not just for costume purposes. There are no flaws in the workmanship and I have no complaint about any of the materials used. The leather is softer and more pliable than my heavier horsehide motorcycle jacket, but it is far more comfortable. It is now molded itself to my body and fits as if it were custom made. It has become my 1st choice for either riding or driving out of the 6 motor style leathers that I own.
Horsehide is always a good choice for extreme sport riding/racing but I am a less aggressive cruiser these days and don't feel the need for heavy body armor.
If you succeed in acquiring an MFP Branch or the Gorilla jacket I would be interested in your review of their product. In the 7 years I've been on the forum I don't recall anyone commenting on owning one.
