but non operational side pipes should pass?...cant see that'd be too hard to do...i had a HQ 2dr Monaro with dump pipes exiting just behind the rear tyres and they were illegal even tho they were well back from the rear quarter windows so i dont know..

shouldnt need a floating rear axle...illegality aside for a minute, i had 12" rims and 315s on my first hardtop, she'd been mini tubbed and never once had a prob with the cops...my current coupe will take 10" rims with up to 305s before they start scrubbing on bumps...the only reason i havent gone to 10" rims is the mags i have have a massive offset in the wider width, so i'd have to go to a shortened XY diff to get them under...no point as i have the same effect with the setup i have..my ex had an XAGT with only 245s on the rear but a massive offset so they appeared as wide as mine from the rear..i dont know what the offset is on the mags used on maxers but if you play around you'll get what you want without going illegal..

i agree that the laws in qld are ridiculously unbalanced in favour of hot rods..fiance says in NSW you can get a hole in the bonnet and protrusions engineer blue plated but he doesnt know the circumstances...RTA has always been hoon friendly lol...

p.s...sorry about the massive pic..eek!!..if you make yourself a coffee and spend 10mins scrolling to the right and then scroll down another 5mins you'll see the maxer

Yes fake ones are ok... I dunno why it would be illegal on your ummm monaro (dammit you made me type it :P). As long as the pipes were exiting behind the rear axle then it wouldnt have been a drama. Daresay sometimes transport officers and some Police officers get a bit picky and dont know the laws or try and actually bluff you.

The floating hubs were a a requirement in NSW from memory because having a deep dish rim actually puts too much flex on where the axle meets the rim. This increases the chances of axle breakage. (yes its rare... but can happen).
Thats why having a 8in with a massive offset is a worry, when it would be better maybe to go 9 or 10in rim with not so large offset.

Having spoken to guys in NSW there is no chance of that happening, however a few yrs ago a madmax replica was apparently registered with the fake blower, but no one could see how when the law is pretty specific. Other then a brown paper bag? :D

Its ok about the picture!

Ill let my friend in Rocky know about the replica as she goes to gladstone a little bit and shes out at one of the mines... she would love to see it!

as for the zoomies.....law says they can't exit below an opening window??? remove the window crank...window can't roll down...problem fixed.
I've never had my rear windows down in the 8 years I've been driving my XB

Fraid that wont work Douggie.. at best the window would need to becompletely sealed up and then engineer approved...
I doubt in QLD anyone would approve it... maybe NSW?

But as for you Canadians?

wow....sealed up eh?? I guess the fact that water can't get through is not good enough......I'd fight that one for sure. You cuold always throw on a set of canadian plates and say that you are watching it for a friend that's coming over for a big show.

The arguement would be its still not a "fixed" window... and that its not a one piece rubber seal (like a rear window).

The laws here would never change sadly.
As we have such a small population and even smaller "car" type people numbers.

Good to see another replica in QLD.... we should have a QLD meet up one day of the cars around... (once simon hurrys up lol).

LOL samy, if there is one thing i need for that car its time to work on it :!: even when i complete certain parts im not happy with, its a matter of undoing and starting from scratch, it will happen just dont know when.
The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel, it'll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this, now if your lucky ? you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go !

That would be able to be blue plated in nsw, functional side pipes with the rear window unopenable, scott with the lismore BOB considered this before decideing on fake zoomies.

To everyone commenting on what is legal or not, please be aware the laws in Australia changed in January this year and are a LOT tighter across the board. If your car was engineered (and you have the paperwork) with a blower/scoop, great, but they won't be approved anymore.

ARB, the 4x4 modifiers have lost about 1/2 their income since the changes affected all modifications (suspension/tires/wheels/body/engine).

Basically, until the laws change, I have a shed of 1/2 finished projects that'll not be completed.
