but non operational side pipes should pass?...cant see that'd be too hard to do...i had a HQ 2dr Monaro with dump pipes exiting just behind the rear tyres and they were illegal even tho they were well back from the rear quarter windows so i dont know..
Yes fake ones are ok... I dunno why it would be illegal on your ummm monaro (dammit you made me type it

). As long as the pipes were exiting behind the rear axle then it wouldnt have been a drama. Daresay sometimes transport officers and some Police officers get a bit picky and dont know the laws or try and actually bluff you.
shouldnt need a floating rear axle...illegality aside for a minute, i had 12" rims and 315s on my first hardtop, she'd been mini tubbed and never once had a prob with the cops...my current coupe will take 10" rims with up to 305s before they start scrubbing on bumps...the only reason i havent gone to 10" rims is the mags i have have a massive offset in the wider width, so i'd have to go to a shortened XY diff to get them under...no point as i have the same effect with the setup i have..my ex had an XAGT with only 245s on the rear but a massive offset so they appeared as wide as mine from the rear..i dont know what the offset is on the mags used on maxers but if you play around you'll get what you want without going illegal..
The floating hubs were a a requirement in NSW from memory because having a deep dish rim actually puts too much flex on where the axle meets the rim. This increases the chances of axle breakage. (yes its rare... but can happen).
Thats why having a 8in with a massive offset is a worry, when it would be better maybe to go 9 or 10in rim with not so large offset.
i agree that the laws in qld are ridiculously unbalanced in favour of hot rods..fiance says in NSW you can get a hole in the bonnet and protrusions engineer blue plated but he doesnt know the circumstances...RTA has always been hoon friendly lol...
Having spoken to guys in NSW there is no chance of that happening, however a few yrs ago a madmax replica was apparently registered with the fake blower, but no one could see how when the law is pretty specific. Other then a brown paper bag?
Its ok about the picture!
Ill let my friend in Rocky know about the replica as she goes to gladstone a little bit and shes out at one of the mines... she would love to see it!
