And herein lies the problem, such a huge budget film is going to have to return huge numbers of bums on seats. Therefore Fury Road is going to have to pander to the masses. Who the hell would see all these cool cars, trucks and tanks and begrudge the lack of wasteland ricers? Because racecar? Let that crowd go watch Deathrace 2000 I say.flightsuit wrote:So they're pandering to the import tuner/Fast and the Furious crowd? Please say it isn't so!furyroadcars wrote:
Vehicle 2 is Not Aussie and is 6 cyl (it's also a little out of place to the rest of the cars. The aim was to have different cars that everyone would like, not that everyone will like every car, but there are cars to suit a wider audience, so if you don't like one car there would be another one you do like (hopefully), if that makes sense).
On the flipside, I guess what we're mostly seeing here is Furiosa's army? If so, pretty impressive stuff.

What's happened to the aesthetic of this film?
The production design is looking so cheap and tacky.

The top of the cab looks like a platform where another Lord Humungus type will proclaim: "Soon you will know the vengeance of Lord Humungus. I promise you nobody, nobody gets out of here alive!"roadwarriormfp wrote:

It does appear to offer several 'stages' for acting, or more may be added to the cab roof.

What's going on at the back? It appears to have a white plastic seat and a round tunnel type thing. At the foot of the tunnel there's a red object, kinda like a generator?
Execution by sub-woofer? Glitter cannon for the Furiosa roadshow?

This looks really interesting. It looks like theres another set of speakers on the other side, and an area to preform between them. Since we've heard nothing about sets being built, perhaps the people in this film will all be traveling at all times, and will have things like this stage truck.
Also, a few pages back someone was talking about "Jap Crap"...I'm not a car guy so I don't really know what that means. To me, the MAD MAX films take place "A few years from now..." That means if I watch the first movie today, it still takes place in the future, not the 80s or 90s. It was a genius idea by Miller and Kennedy to not put years and dates on this stuff.
Anyway, if I walk down my street in New Jersey, there are American cars, Japanese cars, German cars and so on. So, if there's an apocalypse today, and in 10 years people are driving around in scavenged cars, some are going to be Japanese. It makes total sense.
And while I do like the big beefy cars in The Road Warrior, I will always accept something if it makes sense conceptually.
