Re: Who wants my MM2 Road Warrior knee pad
The cricket pad thing seemed plausible to me, but then I started to doubt it because every cricket pad I could find (dating back to old black and white photos from the 1950s and 40s even) looked different. I'd never thought that it would be even OLDER than that.
Now all we need to do is find some 1930s cricket pads and see if we can find a match, or even some good photos. If I ever get one in my hands I know my leather guys can create a very accurate replica (though I think you'll find that my current replica is pretty darn close).
By the way, I've still never seen a cricket pad like that, but I'm passing along info directly from Richard Taylor at Weta, who is in charge of costumes for Fury Road and has access to the original costume from Road Warrior.

Re: Who wants my MM2 Road Warrior knee pad
Thanks for the photo.
Yes, that looks like a standard cricket pad. Still nothing like Max's knee pad. If Richard Taylor was right (and I'm assuming he was) then maybe the one they used for Max was an unusual style or something. Or perhaps even something sort of hand made. It's very likely there probably wasn't a lot of mass production of Aussie cricket pads back in the 30s.
By the way, I've made yet ANOTHER new knee pad for my Road Warrior outfit. (I think this is the 5th). And I think this one gets just a little closer to the original.
