Urgent - Shoulder pads from Max 1 jacket

Anyone know of a good source of pads for Max's jacket in the first movie?

I was hoping for the rounded plastic skate boad knee pad shells that I remember from my youth I seem to remeber those shells looked similar to max's shoulder pads.

I scoured my local supermarkets and sports stores last night but could only find rollerblading knee pads. Unfortunatley the plastic shells are all very fashionable, futureistic and squared off with wierd designs and air vents all over them.

Anyone got any ideas?, I want to get my tatty leather jacked maxed up for next weekends back2themax.

Hi,

The pads that I'm going to use for my jacket are from a motocross chest protector for kids. The chest protector's name is KIDS ROK II and is made by O'NEAL. I bought it for my nephew and I realized that the shoulder pads were very similar to the ones used in MM1. You have to paint it in black because they are originally white. I think that this kids protector is still available. Try http://www.oneal.com

Karol has also put in a new source for shoulder pads to the fan costumes area, check his trading post link. I doubt you'll get one out from the US inside of a week though...

Dave H, I haven't found a good source for the pads yet. You may want to find some motorcycle/motocross kneepads - they sometimes sell them just with the plastic pieces. Other than that, you will want to take a look at various sport pads. Baseball shin guards and American football pads are a good place to start, but they are probably hard to come by in Oz.

In the future, I may work with someone and make some resin pads identical to the ones in the movie.

Thanks all, I'll continue my search although time has almost run out for me.

I went to Gowings (Mens store in Sydney) and found blue Bonds 'raglan' t-shirts just like max's. Im suspicious that the colour is a tiny bit darker than in the movie but otherwise they look exactly the same. They cost $15 Australian.

Sorry mate, I wish I'd looked there, thanks for the offer anyway, One day I must get some of your proper ones.

I the end I went with some dodgy knee pad shells and a set of "Snaps" from a haberdashery store. The effect was not too bad. I put the top half of the snap through the remaining nylon cloth material underneath the shell and the bottom half through the shoulder of the jacket. They just snapped together and held all night.
