Importing To The UK

Post by mad_dan »

Can anyone give me any information on importing cars from Australia to the UK?

All I can find is exporting them from the UK to Australia.

I'm serious about one day owning a Falcon, I've been saving since February, still nowhere near enough for one just yet but it's all I have to aim for in life and there just aren't any Falcons in England for sale.

Any help would be great!

Found this- It looks like it varies based on the year of the vehicle, and how long you have owned it. 17.5% VAT and 10% Duty tax may make it a bit... Expensive.
Though it seems if you can prove your car is a "classic", it's duty free and only 5% VAT. This forum lists alot of good info... Mostly US to UK, but AU shouldn't be too different. At least the steering wheel is on the proper side for UK roads.

Good luck!

Thanks for that, that's very helpful. Hopefully in the next couple of years I will be able to go ahead with all of this.

I wonder about the UK Standards tests though, all it really mentions is testing cars from the past 10 years, would an XB Falcon be exempt in that case?
