Aussie Police car -- Spotlight

I'm writing a Aussie story, and within that story is a police car chasing a car, which won't pull over...
My question is: Where is the spotlight mounted on the police car and when is the appropriate time to shine their spotlight? I got pulled over once for speeding and I can't remember what happened exactly...

Any comments would help. Cheers.

I cant recall any oz cop cars having swivel mounted spotties like u.s. cop cars. ive seen hand held spotties used, and also forward facing spotties on the light bar or in the grille.

Some have a spot light and either end of the red and blue set, they dodn't swivel and face the curb.
