Well its easy to claim its a swedish mauser belt, but present your evidence please.

Lacking that, i'd be pretty confident that its a light horse cartridge bandoleer. I own an identical one to the one on the door.

These were pretty common at disposal stores up until the 80's.

What an odd statement to make! why would anybody make such a claim about something as trivial as an ammo belt and then be asked to present evidence to prove the claim?! by claiming this is not a Swedish Mauser ammo belt you are actually re-writing history.We are all experts in our own field,as I pointed out in my opening post I am a fan of these films but I am what you may call an expert in military uniforms and I am no stranger to Swedish,German,American,British and of course Australian uniforms to name but a few and just because you own an identical belt as the one used in said film doesn't in any way prove it to be anything other than what it actually is-Swedish Mauser,oh,and thank you for your warm welcome Toecutter!

Evidence enough? I could go on but I think you get the picture. You may also want to re-think your approach to what may be a more knowledgeable persons view on certain subjects who are only trying to help!!

They still arent the same as the ones hanging on the door of the BOB. I also own an identical machete, same handle - the works. Are you going to pos t a picture of a handle for a latrine tool used by the estonian drainage corp and then proclaim your expert knowledge on all things latrine tool related and claim the machete isnt a machete ? here is a news flash - you are wrong. You might be an expert, but you are wrong.

What evidence would i need from you to convince me that an Australian cartridge belt isnt hanging on the door ?

A clear photo of the cartridge belt in the BOB, and one of your claimed cartridge belt examples - side by side. You can then point out all the exact details. If you cant provide that evidence, then just admit you are wrong.

Im awaiting your THIRD post with keen interest. Im just dying to see this amazing revelation and apologise to you.

First off to Militaria01, welcome to the forum! I always appreciate having another expert around.

Now on to my thread highjack!

(And feel free to start a new one, I'll just delete this post if you chose to do so.)

I'd like to ask your opinion of a few things. These topics have been discussed before, but I want your take on them. Are you familiar with Lord Humungus' revolver and gun case?

Can you ID the type of scope he has on the revolver?

Can you ID any of the items in his gun case?

Can you ID the era/uniform of the man in the picture?

Here are some images and our thoughts on what some of the items may be:


The soldier in the photo may be an Australian Artillery Officer or NCO (by the sword). The uniform is the WWI style tunic and jodhpurs with a Sam Brown Belt.






Silver rectangle in the upper left - match striker/matchbox holder.


Badge over the photo - 'tin hat day' pin issued as a fundraiser for 'Diggers'.


Two bronze star medals - Could be any of the following: The 1939-1945 Star, The Atlantic Star, The Air Crew Europe Star, The France and Germany Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star, The Burma Star, or The Italy Star.


Two bronze round medals - look like coins showing a man wearing a rounded hat, probably The War Medal 1939-1945.


Top half, lower middle, small light blue pin of the Australian country, looks like a 'rising sun' emblem in the centre - seems to be an ANZAC Day pin of some sort.


Top half, lower right, round pin with a cross in it - red cross fundraiser pin.


Top half, lower far right - ???


Round pins (buttons?) on the lower half, right side - ???


Round button on the lower half in the middle - ???


Half circle "Australia" pin below the round button - ???


Skull - ???

For the skull, well if I'm not wrong, it is easy and difficult as the same time.
(If somebody think I'm wrong, don't become angry like for the belt...it's just a movie, mate...)

It looks like a Hussard Colback insignia.

The, in german, called Leibwache Hussaren
(quickly translated "body guard Hussard" with my approximate english abilities...)
or in french Hussards de la mort (death Hussards)
weared on their fur bonnet (called colback) a skull like below.

Problem is, each regiment has had it's own model, most of the time hand crafted...
so, you have to be very very lucky to find exactly the same insignia as in the movie...

I've been trying to find a scene in the movie that shows it, but apparently I keep missing it. I believe it may be a promo shot or behind the scenes shot that shows it best. My curiosity has been piqued and now I want to know.
