Re: cars of stars museum closed
So is that the same Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that was in Cars of the Stars, or a different one? The timing is obviously a coincidence, but the owner name is not the COTS owner, and COTS isn't mentioned. It could still be the same car, maybe it was on loan to the museum, but from reading the article it does not appear to be that way to me.

Hmm, time to eat my hat....it seems that there were 6 Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs, can`t tell which one was in cars of the Stars. According to the webpage, "In fact six cars were used in this film. Two being the racing car, one in a dilapidated state and the other the racing car that crashes. At the end of the film neither of these versions survived. Four other Chittys were produced for various parts of the rest of the film. The hovercraft car, that transforms from car to hovercraft, and three other cars. The hovercraft car was made slightly lighter than the others by using aluminium instead of brass for some of the parts. It was also hung from a jig or helicopter for some of the flying scenes. Its engine was removed during filming to lighten the car further. It was later refitted with an engine and runs perfectly. 'Cars of the Stars' motor museum in Keswick, England owns the 'hovercraft car' and also the main road car used in the film and in fact this latter car is the most original and untouched of all the surviving Chitty cars with its original engine and interior."
Don`t know if this is in fact the one up for auction. (Sound of hat being eaten munch munch yummy)
A p-p-p-piece from here and a p-p-p-piece from there....Perhaps it`s a result of an anxiety.
For those who are asking, what the #*!!@ does this have to do with Mad Max...just think of the possibilities! The Interceptor combined with the Gyrocopter...

Maybe they'll use the ORIGINAL black car in MM4?

Re: cars of stars museum closed
Just another bit of information about this topic; I got an e-mail from someone about my site and he mentioned this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.mode ... 2?lnk=raot
The relevant part reads:
"last Friday, when I learned that the “Cars of the Stars” museum at Keswick (and the associated “Bond Museum”) had unexpectedly closed the weekend of the 7th/8th May.
(http://www.carsofthestars.com/) The last I had heard (via the local media) had been that the owner was selling some of his spare exhibits in anticipation of acquiring more Bond cars, but apparently this sale had attracted the attention of an American gentleman who turned up and bought the entire collection, which I understand is now on it’s way across the Atlantic."
So maybe the Interceptor will end up in the US. If it does I'll take a road trip to see it, but I still think that's a crying shame.

Re: cars of stars museum closed
saw an article about it on tv the other day. they made seven for the movie (different versions for the 'flying', etc). The original 'drivable' version is owned by an old guy who worked on the movie and bought the car from the film studio after the movie... and he still drives it.aussie muscle wrote:dunno, but jay orhberg made a copy a few years back.
