That's cool. I'm on a few other car sites and the hardest thing for most people to figure out is not what they want, but how much they are actually willing to do. The black MFP markings will sharp on the car, though.

By the way, if you still have working A/C on the car, stock up on the idler pulley. A few spares are wise as the bearings tend to fail and make a horrible racket. If the A/C doesn't work, I think you can swap to a shorter belt and bypass the a/c.

yeah i ditched the a.c. about 5 years ago right after i bought the car....i hate a.c., hate the smell of it hate the fact that people are too pampered to engoy the breeze from their window...so i pulled it out and sold it to an offroader to rebuild so he could convert his truck to an onboard-air system

How about some steel tube bumpers off an old 4 by 4. You can mount up a winch if you want or weld on some extra armor
on them.

to be honest it doesn't strike me as an MFP kind of car, i'd be more interested in making it an ex-police car look. it reminds me of the cop car used in Gone in 60 seconds (1974). either way, it sounds like you're having fun with it.

If you are wanting to go the MFP route look up some old 70's scanners on eBay. Many have a row of chasing red LED lights and a switch for each light that kind of make them look like the radios the MFP cars had. More than a CB radio does. Some have metal cases and it'd be easy to mount a couple toggle switches on the bottom that the MFP used instead of PTT mikes.

Anyone suggest air shocks for hte back yet? I'm building a 70's custom van and used a pair to give my rear end a boost.

You could also put in a roll bar. Just something for looks, not some NHRA approved job.

If you wanted to get a little more serious looking and more Road Warrior style find one of those big, heavy duty ladder racks people get for cargo vans. Many are home-made and turn up on Craigslist or junkyard vans. YOu could cut it down to fit on your roof. Be good four mounting a couple spares or other pillaged supplies.

Have fun!

I suppose with some major work you could make it look like a yellow interceptor. It is a bit large of course etc...
Or... definitely flat black!

YOu could see what it would cost to have some louvers/"Slats" made for that back window(maybe a welding school, or local auto-repair school could do it on the cheap). I think some "Mojock" style wheels, painted black, would look pretty tough too. Also JC Whitney used ot sell these Ford/Mopar style bolt on spoilers EVERYONE and their mother would buy. You could get one of those on the back.
