Nah, nobody's died..

I'd like to take a moment to announce that I have Sold my beloved 1973 AMC Javelin.

I'd never have gotten time and money to bring her back from 18 years of Storage, let alone finish what I'd had planned for her.
Hell, right now I couldn't justify the $50 Hobbyist permit.

'73 Diamond Blue metallic with Pierre Cardin interior & added AMX boot Spoiler, .030 overbored 9.5 to 1 compression 360 with Holley 4160 carb & Hooker headers.
Oh, and 15x6 & 15x8 Chrome 8-Spoke rims & Goodyear rubber.

Hey man, I know how you feel. I had to part with my 340 Valiant last year so I could move back home. It's tough to say goodbye to something you've put a big part of your life in. That little 340 was lethal. I owned that little engine for over 20 years. But you can't keep a gearhead down. I soon found something with more potential and it's coming along nicely.

And what is a Hobbyist Permit?

My genius city council, in an effort to get rid of "Eyesore Junk Cars" in peoples' yards, passed an ordinance a few years back requiring cars that weren't licensed be scrapped unless the owners purchased a permit to keep the car.

Didn't work, largely because it relies on people filing complaints against their neighbors who would likely get complaints in retaliation.

Me, I got around it with the Javelin because it was stored in a metal storage building on my parent's acreage and I stored both Capri's at the salvage yard.

Sorry to see you part with it, Foxtrot. Before the web and all, I had a friend who said the car used to make Max's vehicle in "The Road Warrior" was an AMC Javelin. She was mistaken of course, but it's easy to see where people could draw that conclusion.
