...sorta slow motion. he leaves the seat, goes through the windscreen, headfirst straight into the tree...right. and then, bounces back through the windscreen. by the time we got to him.. he was just sittin there trying to scream with his face ripped off......whats the matter?

Same to both of you Nelson and Dan...

I had a wicked time and my wife absolutely enjoyed herself as well.

We love meeting new people and sharing the passion that all of you have.

It was special for me because i met cast and crew from the first movie and without the first there would have been no second.......

Thanks to everyone again who was there.

Holy smokes, this is great stuff!

Any chance those rare pics could be posted again or linked for us silly Seppos that missed 'em the first time around?

As a HUGE fan I would love to "nerd out" on that stuff.

Wow. I'd never seen this thread and I just read the whole damn thing.

Emil, you are an amazingly gracious gentleman. Thanks! Maybe you can answer a question for me. I've been wondering about a scene in the cab of the semi, during the rollover. You and Mel are being jostled around violently, but right at the end of the shot, Mel seems to stick his tongue out, giving me the impression that he was really having fun with the scene. Was that the case? (If you don't remember, no prob. Just curious.)

Wow! Fantastic reading, great stories all!
A friend from the Replica Props Forum guided me here, as I'm doing a copy of Emil's boomerang. Glad I got to see the last pic of it up close, as my dimensions are severely off! :o
Emil, thanks for sharing your story, and your personal pics as well. I'll keep a watch on this forum and hope the deleted shots reappear one day. Truly sorry I missed them. I've been a fan of Max since opening night of MM1. When we left the theatre, I was driving a black on black 72' SS Camaro turning low 11's in the quarter mile. The roads in Florida were anything but safe that night!
Emil, if you want that car, start casting those sterling boomerangs! I'll take two, one for myself, and one for the wife (let the kids buy their own!) Can I commission them from your shop?
Thanks also to the great guys at this forum! I hope I get to party with you all one day!
Cheers from Sarasota!
Jeff

WOW - I just read the whole thread - very interesting insights to MM2 and the making of. Special thanks Emil Minty for being on the board, your take on and contribution to the film is priceless. Last week I saw MM2 for probably the first time in almost a decade, and it blew me away again. We fans nitpick the details and we see all the strings but fact is a movie like this will not and can not be made again, it's truly timeless. The cars, action, acting and everything is great, but I've become more survival geared since I'd last seen MM2 and the opening dialog really brought me some pause. I'd done some research in oil usage vs. production and there is a lot humanity can learn from a 30 yo action movie. I try to set up like we won't, but I really hope we do change our ways, and soon.

I will say that while the whole show is great, I always particularly liked Feral's interaction, with Wez and company, during the 'just walk away' talk. Wez dodges the rang twice, Goldie still doesn't get it, oh, opp! He's dead! Wez stares daggers at Feral, who just stands there, looking like "I already know I'm bad, how about you?". Leave it to Toadie to loose his digits and get all the baddies roaring with laughter. There's so much stuff in that short scene the audience doesn't know whether to laugh, cringe, cheer, or keep hanging on Humongous' next words! Relax, and watch the stuntgirl do a backflip :}

Emil, did they do the boomerang stuff with you or was that shot separate? Or did you guys actually throw it around? CGI is a great storytelling tool, but just knowing that this stuff was all practical effects back then makes it that much more... whats the word... quaint? romantic? or even... dangerous?
Also, didn't you do your own growling when Gyro is giving you guff about his precision instrument?

Thanks again for hanging out Emil, I met Virginia Hey at a scifi con here in the states some years ago, it's so cool to know the Max crew is out there and kicking.
