Escape from NY

i know this is the Mad Max forum. But i like Escape from NY also very much.
We all are still looking for the lost Mad Max scenes. Have you ever seen this lost Escape from NY-scene? I love it. Hopefully some day we see also the lost MM-parts.

I'm also a big fan of EFNY. I can't watch the linked video from my current location, but I'll assume that it's the deleted opening bank robbery scene. While I found it interesting to see, I think it points out the value of "less is more," particularly where John Carpenter is concerned. I think the worst thing to happen to Carpenter's filmmaking is that he was so good at making movies with no money that when he finally had enough money to do whatever he could think of, he lost his focus on what was truly important, story-wise (witness EFLA, or Ghosts of Mars). EFNY (the movie and the soundtrack) is an enduring classic because of the things that were left out. Snake's introduction at the prison was perfect; he was cool and aloof and a total badass. To have seen him prior to that, panicked and running, would have made a really bad first impression. The fact that he is being sent to NY is evidence enough that somehow he messed up; how or why isn't really important.

The "enhanced" soundtrack has the track "Snake Shake," which Carpenter originally intended to play over the closing credits. I'm glad he changed his mind (or someone talked him out of it), because it's so bouncy and happy that it would have been really jarring to hear after the sort of down ending. Plus it's the worst track (yes, even worse than "Everybody's Coming to New York") on an otherwise brilliant album.

Nah, I don't think about this stuff at all.

As far as ever seeing any lost scenes from MM1--I'm not optimistic, but I'm still hoping.
