Coming along...made some muffler hangers and got everything painted and done. Just need some oval tube for the exhaust tips to go, but work under the car aside from that is finished.
And a few other pics from today...just got some new Hella headlights so those will go in tomorrow.. and sure happy with how my brakes came out 360 x 36mm rotors and Brembos should slow me down I figure!
Beautiful looking machine you got there! The only thing, a pet peeve of mine are rims. I cannot stand low profile tyres... But you know, opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.
That's ok...I know some people are still in the 70's and like small rims.
I prefer modern tires that can handle well....and the 18" rims are needed to clear my brakes, which actually are larger in diameter than the wheels I used to run on the car
I love me fords but them torana's have appeal too,the drop tank will always tell someone in pursuit (behind you) you have some horses under that aussie hood. Thanks for sharing
The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel, it'll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this, now if your lucky ? you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go !
I've had a bunch of Aussie cars, but my Torrie has been my favorite I would say. But will build another Valiant next after this I think just "because"
The Torana is nearly ready to at least hit the road for some testing though..still have more to do but be cool to at least do a few miles in it after all the build.
i like what you've done to it. i read some that don't quite agree, but it's still a Torana and you obviously love it, and that's what matters. It looks like it needs a repaint, got that planned?
Yep paint and trim will be last. After all the mechanical side of things is done. Going to be Sting Red (Commodore color that I already sprayed the engine bay in) it has been Mandarin Red for about 15 years now...and will keep the blacked out bonnet of course.
I am really happy with how the exhaust came out after building it all...ready to take a couple runs up and down the street now and see how it goes (have gone up and down once so far actually). Still just need to add the front spoiler. Then just renew the rego and hit the road...bed in the brakes will be the first step, then just see how it rides, what bugs may come up, etc.
And guess what...I just bought another one ! My mate rang and said he just found a super, super clean (totally rust free and arrow straight body) LX 4 door. Already has front and rear spoilers and comes with (never fitted) new wheel arch flares too !
Interior is excellent, outside is ok but a horrible color (burgandy )
So looks like I am a twin Torrie owner again ! (never owned a 4 door though)
