Lights

Post by Daz »

Hi,
does anyone know of a supplier of the rotating blue beacon lights used on March Hare/Big Bopper? They are somewhat smaller than those on Max's Interceptor.
It'd be great if the supplier was in Oz, but I'll settle for anything at this stage....

Daz,

The orginal lights were Hellas.
That particular model hasnt been made since 2000.
Hella superceded them with a more modern looking version.
The rotators are the same, but the lens shape and base are somewhat different.

Warning systems Australia do make a light which is the same shape as the orginal hellas but are somewhat smaller in size!

There isnt much choice otherwise...

John (madmax2050?) has the more modern Hellas fitted to his bopper replica in Scotland.

They would be the closest you'll ever get I daresay.

Spent plenty of time online searching for alternatives over the years.

I have seen the one's on John's replica and it's hard to tell they are modern versions.

Opps,

John sent me a picture.. he does have the older style versions!

Now I gotta search and see where I had seen the "newer" versions....

Now I know why he took so much care taking them off his replica.

Daz,
When we built your Big Bopper replica, the light bases and revolving light and reflector are movie correct, However the blue lens was hard to come by at the time, Hence why we put the square later model lens on. I can chase them up for you from a friend of mine who can source them if you like.

I have about 6 more movie correct bases I sourced many years ago, they are the larger version of Hella's.

Cheers

I use the narva lights on the march hare, they are quite large and look pretty good. not movie correct but closeish

...sorta slow motion. he leaves the seat, goes through the windscreen, headfirst straight into the tree...right. and then, bounces back through the windscreen. by the time we got to him.. he was just sittin there trying to scream with his face ripped off......whats the matter?
