Here's a prop to hunt for - the "Paradise" fold-out postcard

Has anyone ever found this? I'm guessing it's just an item that the crew grabbed from a gift shop somewhere. Maybe somebody in Australia collects vintage postcards and has one. How common were fold-out postcards like that in Australia anyway? (I haven't seen too many in the U.S.)

Maybe somebody would re-create one. Maybe it wasn't a found item and was something they designed for the movie, I don't know.

In case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, it's a fold out postcard with multiple photos of Australian beaches etc.. I think it says "Australia" at the top if I remember right.

You could be right. I'll have to take a close look at that scene on the bluray and see if it's possible to tell one way or another.

Maybe someone could post a high def screenshot (I don't have a way to get screenshots from my bluray unfortunately).

Postcard books like that used to be pretty common (particularly on the Gold Coast, probably still are), I would assume the postcards seen in the film were just bought that way. Good luck finding one now... you'd need someone on the Gold Coast to help you out (Sammy? Sammy?!?)

PB is characteristiclly correct in saying that these were quite common in Australia in the 60s & 70s. I have one from Forster NSW where we went each year for the family holiday ... same town, same house every Christmas.

Hmm. If the price stays low, maybe I'll buy it. It could have some company information printed on the back or something. And it's close enough to the movie version for me to get a kick out of.

EDIT - I was outbid. Oh well. We should keep our eyes open for these in the future. Especially ones that look to be from the late 70s to early 80s. I don't think the ones in the movie were much older than that.

Heh. Those look just like the screen grabs I did (only mine were lame). The first pic looks like a separate postcard taped to the flap of the "accordion" set. Then in the last shot, is it an entirely different set of postcards (not likely IMO) or did he just fold them oddly?

The last shot (that shows the cow or whatever it is) is when he's folding the stack back up and different postcards are seen.
These were just some quick screens from the DVD. Shots from the bluray would look far better if someone wants to do them someday.
