I was tasked with doing an organisational assessment on a new snow operator yesterday. They are a private company that intend to run a couple of tracked SUV's out of Falls creek ski resort. These 2 bad boys are so large, they are classified as a bus, and both of them had less than 20kms on the odometer.
With up to 15 passengers on-board, They start on the bitumen in the resort and then claw their way straight up the mountain and 12km (8miles) across the saddle to Mount McKay. They remain at the summit for 20 minutes with hot drinks and nibbles before returning and the total trip takes 2 hours. Its not as expensive as you think. On a time/cost basis, it's cheaper than a taxi.
And if you think it couldn't get any cooler than that, you have the option of skiing or snowboarding back down in advance of the vehicle.
Before you rush out and order one. The price tag, including all engineering and conversion is $500,000 Aud ($470,000US)
To put that into perspective, that's 10 interceptors.

On a side note: Even though I'm Heterosexual and married, I must admit.......that is one good looking fellow.
