Absolutely, we covered this years ago, i think even ol' ANKLECRANKER provided a link, thats how long ago we're talking.
But i have no doubt the Humungus got the idea from his father or whoever that is in the photo.

How about the gang`s choice of weapons ? The SC seem to use no shotguns/ crossbows is that correct ?

I don't think the gangs really had much of a choice when it came to weapons. The just used whatever was at hand from crossbows to improvised spears. They just didn't have any guns because guns were scarce at the time, especially in the wasteland. Perhaps the gang did possess firearms earlier on (especially the Gayboy Berserkers who would have gotten guns from the mfp regardless of whether or not they were former members), but eventually depleted there ammunition while making large scale raids in the cities and suburbs like mahenoguy said. They were not the most practical gangs (wasting gas around the coumpound for example) and would have likely used up their ammunition before anything else. The fact that their uniforms (aside from the Smegma Crazies') do not look very worn may suggest that they are only just pushing their way deeper into the wasteland.

thats true, you could re-use arrows after they were fired

ammo was really a last resort, max didnt have any. and you could see when Humungus opened the box to get his pistol, there was heaps of empty holes where the bullets were held, and when he loaded the pistol, he only used one bullet but at the end he loaded the entire gun as a sort of "this is it"
i do wonder how they ended up with lots of guns and ammo in mm3 though...

besides, i think alot of them were straight (in MM2), as demostrated when they ran down the buggy and rapped the girl but not the guy?

I see, you`re right !
This forum is a great excuse to watch the MM movies again, so here is another idea concering the Smegma Crazies: Maybe they have a (skin) disease, that`s why they are completely wrapped up.
So when Max enters the compund in the Mack it is their task to follow him and try to infect the compound dwellers.
Unfortunately, they aren`t very bright or quick, so they all get killed too quickly.

i just wondered why it is mainly SC people who enter the compound, apart from Wez. :?

IN MM3 there is a semblance of civilization occurring, and they have educated people. If you have enough knowledge to get a working gas powered electric generator plant up and running, you can also use the urine from the pigs to create gunpowder. I wont post the ingredients here, but all they needed was in the compound or around it, except for primers.
