shoulder pad

Post by scattergun »

What other football shoulder pads have padding that is close to matching the cp-46 pads that can be used for the mm2 costume? I just ordered a correct shoulder plate from jwrites and I want to find a correct padding before I change it. thanx

Jwrites and I may have to start offering some padding soon. We have a pattern that is very close (and we may continue to tweak it to perfection). Jwrites used it for his costume, and with the shortage of good pads (and the virtual non-existence of 100% screen accurate padding) we may just have to offer some of our custom-made padding.
It's a pain to make (requires sculpting the foam, sewing the covering, taking it to a shop to have the vinyl sewn on) so it will probably have to be in the $50 range.

I think $50 is a great deal! I spent $30 just in material alone to make mine, I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with. :)

I think $50 would be a pretty good price, but I don't know yet whether we can do it for that. We need to wait and see what the shop is going to charge for the stitching and vinyl.

I paid $30 for the Black duck canvas, polyester fill, and black vinyl. I had to buy a yard of each min. so that's why it came to $30, I think it would have been enough material for probably three pads. The material is not the real issue though, the labor is where the price tag comes into play, first off you need a sewing machine and know how to sew. My mother-inlaw helped me and honestly it was time consuming and rather a pain in the ass and I would have gladly paid MORE than $50 for a decent pad from someone. If you guys came up with a pad and plate combo I'm sure you would spark quite an interest considering the real thing is next to impossible to get. The last I heard someone paid $150 for a real setup and quite frankly I'd have probably paid that too.
Here are a couple of pics of the pad I made, keep in mind it's not sitting correctly on the jacket because it's on a hanger and not on a person but when worn it's looks the part. Good enough for me anyway ;)
