A good clip, I always liked the car stuff in that one also, definitely some homages to Mad Max in there. They just need to get a new special effects guy - it always bothers me that the odometer doesn't move the whole clip, while the speedo cranks over non stop. And the door should be set to just tear off on that car that gets side swiped :)

You might also like the car stuff in this one:

Duran Duran...Wild Boys (I know I know, I am not a fan but that video was actually inspired by Mad Max Thunderdome, note the use of shoulder pads and leather)

Judas Priest Heading Out To The Highway, and Turbo Lover. Done about the same time as Tunderdome and some very strong references to Mad Max with the bikes and leather costumes.

Billy Idol: Out In The Wasteland from Cyberpunk (a real hard album to get a hold of but one of his best! There is also a song called "Shock To The System" that was to be the theme song to Terminator 2 Judgement Day, but it never happened) The Wasteland song actually has Kjell Nilsson as Humungous talking at the start of the song, this song is obviously about Mad Max, as Billy is a BIG fan of the movies and the lyrics certainly suggest what the song is about. I am unsure weather a video exists for this though, it would be interesting if it did!

Billy Idol's Wasteland Lyrics, Betcha didn't even know this gem existed! It's all about Max too:
There's even Kjell Nelsson's name on the credit list on the album.

(intro with Humungous chanting over his loudspeaker)
Out into the wasteland
Out into the wasteland

No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion at all
No religion

Emissionary man amongst the heathen
Can't you see a modern primitive
I came back, I'm gonna find,
I'm gonna give religion
When there was, no religion at all

I'm outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion at all
I'm outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion, no religion at all

There's a man in need of resurrection
(No religion)
Can't you see a modern primitive
(No religion)
But I'm a man I need my love and
freedom (No religion)
When there was no freedom at all

I'm outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion at all
I'm outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion, no religion at all

No religion
No religion at all
No religion
No religion at all

In VR land
The future of fun
Tell me what to do
In VR law
Computer crime
Um, so sublime
A fantasy scene
In my machine
Give me secret of life
Let me know, yeah, what I am
And you know that I could get

Outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion at all
I'm outta the wasteland
I'm into this head man
I'm outta the wasteland
No religion, no religion at all
I'm outta the wasteland
So far from the the deadland
Ow, I'm outta the wasteland
No religion, no religion yeah
I'm outta the wasteland
So far from the the deadland
Yeah, I'm outta the wasteland
No religion, no religion at all

No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion
No religion, no religion at all
No religion at all
No religion at all
No religion

It's a great song, and worth tracking it down (the album Cyberpunk) just to hear Humongous at the start!

I don't know if I would have directly picked the Wild Boys connection if you hadn't pointed to it... I can kind of see it though.

Of course, they've stated themselves that "Union of the Snake" was a direct reference to Mad Max 2, and they're certainly fans of the films.

OK, because this is a Mad Max forum Ill pull this old cool one for the archives.

Tom Petty - "You Got Lucky"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTAhZKP5wCY

Not my favorite video (that is probably Twisted Sister You Can't Stop Rock-n-Roll, or Maybe KISS I Love it Loud), but one I used to always look forward to on the old MTV of the 80's due to its Mad Max Imagery. The bubble car has been used in MANY productions but I always rememebr it from the short lived "Logan's Run" T.V. series that it was built for by Dean Jeffries. It was also in "SpaceBalls" among a ton of other things.

Could GWAR be Mad Max inspired?? I mean......"Ballzac"...."Flattus Maximus" Seems like there is some degree of inspiration there. I remember they had one or two "songs" that were about Mad Max.

I think a lot of the "shock rock" bands of the 80's were mad max inspired...just look at W.A.S.P. and others!

There was even a heavy metal band in the 80's called Mad Max. I can't remember their music, but I certainly remember their name and the coulpe albums I used to see on the shelves back in the day.

BadCop: It sure is a cool vid!

Dragonforce: SHOCKROCK4EVER!!!!!!!
I am a big KISS, GWAR, GREEN JELLO, ALICE COOPER, CRIMSON GLORY, W.A.S.P., etc fan!!! I have the Mad Maxx albums somewhere deep in y collection. Not bad, typical early crossover (Thrash) but much closer to NWBHM bands that inspired them. Not totally awesome, but I got them from the $.99 bin.

If you like ShockRock especially with a Mad Max/Environ-Metal/Apocolyptic edge check out these guys.... R.I.P.:

Hailed by the media both locally and nationally as the "Godfathers of Environ-METAL", or the "Face painted prophets of shockrock preaching Scared-Strait Environmentialisim".

I was the biggest fan I knew of shock rock back in the day...it used to scare the shit out of everyone I knew, no-one understood me and I certainly didn't understand them. Nowadays I still dig the stuff, but am more into melodic death metal, and neo classical. Bands like Ummm....Dragonforce, Arch Enemy...Angela Gossow has the meanest set of pipes, can kick any guy singers ass a million miles into hell, and she's an outright goddess! I am still the biggest fan of KING DIAMOND! No-one....and I mean no-one has a vocal range even close to King. This is all not really relevant here though, I don't want to hijack any thread and go way off topic, so I'll stop there. Another time....another place.
