Here's the finished uniform, with custom MFP number plate and AbbyShot badges (the leather is so tough I bent the heck out of the badge pin trying to get it in, and at one point the badge fell off completely). It was so ungodly cold at night that I almost wished for a quilted lining in my jacket. :) But the whole outfit was perfect during the day, temperature-wise, and looks awesome.

Great pic. The tapered version of the jacket definitely looks better. Maybe Abbyshot will see this pic and decide to stop making their jackets in the incorrect flared style.
And yes, the pins on their badges need to be improved. Getting it through the jacket (and getting it to stay on) is hard enough, putting it on my boot was nearly impossible.

These are minor criticisms though, and I make them in an effort to get Abbyshot to make a great product into a nearly perfect product.

(P.S. If Abbyshot uses this picture, don't tell them that you're wearing a competitor's gloves)

MMI,

Outfit looks great! I'm in the process of putting one together for Goose. Which glasses do you have?

Thanks!

I believe he's wearing these ones:

Unfortunately, last we checked they were no longer available, but if you find out different (or find another suitable pair) please let us know. But if memory serves, Goose didn't wear the same sunglasses as Max, and the ones referenced above (and the ones MadMaxImages is wearing in the pic) are the Max version.

That's them. Looks like Goose is wearing the same ones, too, although I recall seeing a picture of him with different shades. Or am I thinking of Fifi?

Interestingly, I found this picture hotlinked here: http://punk-geisha.blogspot.com/2009/07 ... x1979.html

At least they gave credit.

Thanks guys,

I did some poking around on ebay and ended up buying these:

They aren't perfect but I'd consider them about 80% accurate which is good enough for me.

I guess Goose did wear the same sunglasses as Max. Maybe I was thinking of Roop or one of the other MFP guys. Because one or two of them had more standard aviator shades. Fifi had those giants 70s old lady glasses.

Those ones you got an eBay are reasonably close. Do they make them in silver? Maybe you could post the auction number so that we could look and see if the seller has more available? I think there are a lot of folks out there looking for sunglasses.

Here are some others that are in the ballpark:

http://www.sunglasswarehouse.com/swsust51.html
(that last one above used to be available in a silver frame with smoke colored lenses, but it doesn't look like that style is available anymore).

Hopefully the ones I found on ebay earlier this year will become available again. They weren't perfect, but they're the closest ones I've ever found and they were dirt cheap to boot. Only a couple of fans got them in time before they sold out though.

SBL pants update

Post by MFP 2020 »

I just took my SBL pants out of the closet to try them with my Rossiter's boots. I had left the 1 3/4" belt threaded through the belt loops; I found that one of the belt loops had detached from the pants. (I mentioned in my review that it's a tight fit.) I tried them on and at some point another loop detached. So there's something else to fix.

Come to think of it, I still have the pieces I cut off the legs. Maybe I can have my local seamstress make more screen-accurate belt loops out of them.

Just an update to say that I just received another pair of Mad Max pants from Southbeach leather. They're great. I have three pairs now. One has front pockets and is my pair for my MM2 costume, one was my mm1 pair but will now be used for a separate non-mad max costume, and the pair I just received is now my new MM1 pair. I ordered these new pants with no front or back pockets since Max had no pockets at all in the first movie (but did have front pockets only in the second). If you order, you should specify about the pockets, because although their Max pants come with no back pockets, they sometimes come with front pockets if you don't tell them specifically what you want. Also make sure to specify you want cowhide leather with no seam at the knees.

BUT HERE'S WHY I'M POSTING - Turns out, you can get these pants custom made to your exact measurements at no extra charge. I guess maybe you always could and I just didn't realize it. Sure would have saved me some money at the tailor on my other pants. This time, in addition to my waist measurement, I also gave them thigh and calf measurements. Came out great and the pants fit like a glove. (I didn't bother with an inseam measurement since I can always cut that to whatever length I want). Note: If you order custom measurements, you should be aware that they will not accept returns (it's only fair, it's not like they can sell you weird custom size to another customer if you don't want it).

Also, I should mention that the leather was softer this time than the last time I ordered. Really nice and easy to break in. That's the thing with Southbeach, you may get different quality leather every time. It's never bad quality, but it always seems to be a little different.

Delivery time was just a little over 2 weeks (despite the fact that the package came from Pakistan via Dubai).
