Re: MM1 switch and stick display
An interesting item there! It does look reasonably accurate in terms of what it is.....A Gearstick. To the layman there is nothing to identify it, only those in the know would recognise this. I respect you have made this for personal fulfilment...I too have been there, but as a display or centerpiece, it is odd in the sense that only a mad max fan would identify with it. Nice job by the way....a rather expensive gearstick but good one!
btw....the rubber switch terminal shroud was black in the first movie, and non-existant in the second.

Re: MM1 switch and stick display
It's possible that some time between MM1 andMM2 max may have had to replace a transmission and the replacement transmission came with a different knob and wasn't important enough for max to worry about and that also might explain why the center console is missing(removed during repairs?).
Re: MM1 switch and stick display
I have had 3 different gear knobs and 2 different gear sticks in one car over a 5 year period.
Theres many reasons for this. I fitted a Holden single rail gear stick to a P76 single rail because it was angled more to the left and suited my arms better. And of course after a friend engraved 1 2 3 4 r into a skull gear knob, how could I resist.
In moviefictionworld, i imagine max performed some maintenance between mm1 and mm2, its not unlikely he has had to drop the box, he does really push the performance envelope.

Re: MM1 switch and stick display
FYI - no such thing as an XC GT.scag66 wrote:After coming across the famous supercharger switch on ebay, i though it would be cool to build up a display for the whole thing.
It didnt take to much searching to come up with most of the original parts and as ive never seen a pic below the switch, ive had to
improvise the bottom half of the display, Im hoping that someone here will be able to help me with more accuracy details.
The gear knob is a brand new reproduction from a XC GT, the fuel line clips that hold the switch to the stick and peice of carpet came
from a XC coupe at a local wreckers and the gear boot is from a late model falcon. the reproduction ones from the GT is very pricey so will wait for conformation before i get one. Can not find an original GT greastick for love or money so some dowl covers that for the time being.
Im really happy with the finished display and would appreciate any advice on getting it more screen accurate.

Nice reproduction you have. Well done.
