dusty hills,
I think those are a bit too off. They might look good on another project, but they don't look very accurate. The caps in the movie had a simple dome shape that was slightly elongated. These have sort of a break in the middle and aren't even perfectly round or oval. Plus they have no stitch marks. I don't think they would be worth the high price tag.
Maybe you'd be better off buying some Sintra and molding a pair out of that. Sintra is a plastic sheeting that can be molded using hot water.

I have two plastic MM1 shoulder caps available if someone wants them. $10 for the pair.

I cut these out of a plastic baseball batting helmet per another fan's instructions. Came out great. High impact plastic and black so that they'll hide scratches better. I made two pairs and put one of them on my Southbeach leather jacket and it looks almost exactly like the Abbyshot one now. (they were cut to about 5" x 7", same size as the Abbyshot ones)

These have been cut and sanded, but you'll need to drill holes and rivet them to the jacket yourself. You may or may not want to add some flat black paint as well. The helmet cost me $9 (used) and cutting it with a jigsaw is a pain, so I figure $10 plus shipping to another fan is a very good price.

This is my only pair and I won't be making more of these. I don't own the jigsaw I used and frankly, making them is kind of a pain considering how little I would want to charge.

ALSO:
For whoever wants to try working with some sintra heat moldable plastic, I have some sheets of it available. Each sheet is large enough to make at least 4 pairs of shoulder caps. $5 plus shipping per 15" x 20" sheet.

I also have larger sheets available if you want to use it for other projects.

Hello! I'm new to the board but finding alot of great info on here! I've just began to put together a MM1 costume. I have to go with the South Beach jacket for now. {Mad Max on a budget!} I've seen posts about the jackets and the zipper problem with the jacket mentioned. I can have the zipper replaced! The shoulder caps worry me! I would like a accurate jacket! If I order a SB jacket can the caps be put on later? Or attach them to the leather caps already on the jacket? Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Anyone with any MM items to sell please let me know!

Welcome aboard

I believe you can order the jacket without the crumby shoulder pads and then add your own. Southbeach can be hard to comunicate with on such details so get a confirmation Email from them that they understand exactly what you want before
they get started. The homemade batting helmet caps look fine if done reasonably well.

Update, I sold those extra shoulder caps I had. But they're not that hard to make yourself. Send me a PM if you have specific questions. The ones I did were a 5x7" oval to match the size of the Abbyshot ones. Then I did the holes and rivets based on photos from Karol's site www.madmaxcostumes.com.

The Southbeach jacket I had came with the wrong zipper pulls, so I replaced them, but I replaced them with the wrong size by mistake, which caused my zipper to "break". After I put the right size pull tap on there, the zipper was fine again. I've seen other MM1 jackets from Southbeach and the zipper pulls were accurate so you may not have to go through what I did.

My jacket came with the leather shoulder caps, which I removed and then just riveted my plastic ones in instead. Not difficult if you have even a little bit experience with riveting leather (and even if you don't and are just good at reading instructions from a riveting kit from Michael's). In hindsight, I should have ordered the jacket with no shoulder caps as it would have saved me a step.

If you're putting together a Mad Max film one MFP costume, but sure to search other threads on this section of the forum from the past year (especially ones that say MFP). I've managed to source a lot of items for this costume, and some of them pretty cheap.

Good luck.
