Pursuit Special

Has any one ever made a replica of the stolen MFP Pursuit Special that the Nightrider was driving? I think that it would be cool if someone did, then the start of mad max could be recreated, which I think is the best bit of mad maxImage

That would be very cool to recreate the beginning scenes. I'll admit I've thought about recreating that car but would want to build an Interceptor first. Maybe afterwards as a Daily Driver so as to not rack up miles on the Interceptor. I'm sure the Wifey would love to see two of those beasts in the garage. Image

Short answer - Yes.

In the mid 80's a mate of mine used to race BMX's. One of teh guys that was at teh same club as him, had a Monaro 'nightrider' repliaca.

It was painted the same, had the same scoop (in between canaries), but lacked the police light.

I cant recall if it was the same model Monaro, but it was certainly in better condition than the pursuit special in MM1!

His first name was Lester and he lived in Rosanna. The car might still exist, I havent seen him or it since 1986.

I thought about building the vehicle, due to the fact that

that it was not the Black V-8 that everyone else builds.

However, I have been unable to find out much data on the

car. Aside from the data on madmaxmovies.com. I think that the

car special upgrades would have to be the builder's own thoughts.

And it would be cheaper than the V-8.

Compared to the black on black, I think Nightrider's car would be a pretty easy build, but the biggest problem is going to be that the base car (Monaro) isn't going to be easy to find cheaply. As far as I've determined they were less Mondaros around than coupes, and they are more highly collected these days and fetch a much higher price. For the same reason most people are reluctant to cut up a GT, many would be reluctant to buy a Monaro to make a replica from.
