Holy moly. Available in a 2-disc special edition from Amazon.com. As soon as I finish this post, I'm ordering it. Maybe I can have a small, invitation-only showing at the RW Event.
Before MAD MAX And THE ROAD WARRIOR There Was STONE
It triggered Australia's exploitation explosion, sparked a worldwide censorship battle, and remains one of the most infamous biker movies in genre history. STONE is the full-throttle saga of an undercover cop (Ken Shorter) who infiltrates the outlaw Grave Diggers (led by producer/director/co-writer Sandy Harbutt) on a one-way trip to hell with vengeance in their hearts, violence on their minds, and 150 horsepower of screaming steel between their legs. Helen Morse (PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK), Bill Hunter (THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT), members of the Sydney Hells Angels, and Hugh Keays-Byrne, Roger Ward, Vincent Gil and Reg Evans of MAD MAX fame co-star in the ultimate down-under cult classic, now fully restored from original vault elements.
Five minutes later...I see that Morrisminor beat me by a year and a half. I must have missed that post. I'm just so excited!
I'll have to get a copy as I missed the 25th anniverary doco Stone Forever. I seem to remember Don Walker from Cold Chisel telling me he did some music for it. I wonder if they mention the dude who was killed on the re-enactment of the funeral procession.
There is coverage of the re-enactment death in the doco, at least in the version I saw. I taped it off TV years ago - I always wondered why the doco had never been put onto any of the previous DVD releases. That's provided they don't re-edit the doco of course, I know there are at least two edits of "Hearts Of Darkness" around the place, with the cut down version removing certain material that was obviously deemed not fit for viewing by someone at some point. You never know what might have been done to the Stone doco in the 10 years or so since it last aired I guess.
madmax images, if you get a copy of it and bring to the RW event, im sure our motorhome will have a dvd player on board, i did intend to bring stone with me as i have a copy of it, oh, and the 3 madmax movies also, how can i go to the usa and not bring them lol.
I added it on Netflix in the saved section and when I looked today it was on my general list, so I bumped it up to #1 but it doesn't get released until a specific date.
