Hey to all
Longtime member of both the rpf and the filmjackets forums, just found this site out and, since I have always been a fan of the mad max costume, gonna test the waters here. I have long been thinking about getting one of abbyshots mad max leather jackets but always wanted some actual fan pics and a review. I wanted these to help me get a better understanding of what this jacket actually looks and feels like. If you have this jacket, feel free to post numerous pics of the jacket, you wearing it and your thoughts on it. Thanks guys!

Re: Abbyshot Jacket Pics and Review Thread!!!!!!!
Welcome to the forum.
If you do a search of this costume and props section of the forum you'll find a lot of posts about the Abbyshot Mad Max jacket, going back the last three years.
The general consensus among fans is that this is the Mad Max jacket they had always wanted. It is screen accurate and very high quality. A number of fans wear theirs while riding their motorcycles. (If anything, the jacket may be TOO high quality considering most of the MFP guys in the movie were actually wearing unlined vinyl made to look like leather.)
The leather used for the jacket is great, pretty soft and thick and breaks in well (I'm speaking a bit second hand as I do not own one, but I know folks who do and I've handled them up close).
You'll find pics of some fans wearing the jacket around this site, and also on sites like www.madmaxcostumes.com (the definitive site for costumes from all three movies). The pics you see on the abbyshot website are accurate to what the jacket really looks like.
There are only two negatives I've ever heard about this jacket - 1. It's a little warm if you're wearing it in a hot climate (but that's also a positive, it's thick leather and well lined) and 2. The shoulder caps are prone to getting scratched (but that is accurate to the movie since Max's were scratched up too).
Bottom line, every fan that buys this jacket loves it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I HIGHLY reccomend it. The Abbyshot jacket is top notch. I love mine, and every one of the MMC clients I have the chance to talk to love it also.
Here is a thread with more detail on what I think about them:

I've had mine for a few years now, and I love it. It comes with a very warm liner, though. I wore it while driving a Camaro down the expressway with no windows and no back hatch, and it kept me very warm. But try to just wear it around and it's easy to start sweating. I had a professional leather place take the 'stuffing' out and replace it with a satin liner. Now it's fine. The way I see it, if I'm worried about getting cold, I can always just put on a sweatshirt underneath it.
Here's some pics:

I am going to order mine soon... Finally saved up enough, just got to get with my wife for some measurements. I don't want to end up getting one that doesn't fit me well.
And damn Humvee... how did it feel poking holes in the leather for the mfp number and badge? I got the numbers here still (was part of the list of guys that got em) so I think I'll be putting them on there as well. I do wonder how people will react to the jacket with those badges on there... especially law enforcement... I am planning on wearing that sucker a lot, second to my Harley Davidson jacket, which I got 5 years ago because it was the closest thing to mad max at the time.

I'll tell ya, I agonized about it for a long while. I tried using magnets to hold the badges on, but even the strongest ones I could find would still move around and I was worried about losing them. Then I just thought, 'I bought this jacket for use as a Mad Max replica, so screw it, put the holes in it'. The way I see it, the badges never come off, so what does it matter?
Most cops don't wear leather jackets unless they are motorcycle cops on patrol, so I've never had a cop look twice at me.

Your costume is simply "kickass'! Thanks!

Re: Abbyshot Jacket Pics and Review Thread!!!!!!!
I'd like to buy a vinyl jacket. Wait.....
staying true to the movie, the only real leather jacket was worn by Steve Bisley, all the others were vinyl.
Also, it would be tooooo hot to drive around in, especially as the BigBopper does not have airconditioning, and the Australian summers make it unbearable.
Anyone know where I can get a semi accurate vinyl replica?
PS.
I do have to wear leather driving gloves, as in summer, the steering wheel gets so hot that it will burn unprotected hands.

I took the plunge... I am out a lot of bottlecaps... I need to drink some more nukacola...
I'll snap some shots when it arrives! Hopefully it fits and measurements are not off... But don't expect it anytime soon. It'll take WEEKS! WEEKS I TELL YOU!
