For what it's worth, I'm pretty happy with my Southbeach MFP jacket. But I knew what I was getting going in. I actually was impressed with the quality considering how little I paid. It's not a jacket that I'd wear for serious motorcycle riding, but it's not supposed to be. I wouldn't describe the leather as "expensive", but I wouldn't describe it as "cheap" either. It's about the same as any lower end leather jacket you would get. I have heard the zippers are prone to break, but I haven't had a problem with that yet.
I knew the shoulder caps were leather before I bought it. So no, they're not accurate, but they look about the same from a few feet away and don't get scratched up as easily as the Abbyshot ones at least. I showed mine to Karol the other night and he thought it was pretty good (other than the shoulder caps of course).
Would I prefer an Abbyshot jacket? Yes, but they're more than twice the price. (I should say that I got my jacket on eBay from Southbeach for less than they advertise on their site). So I managed to get the jacket and accurate pants from Southbeach, plus near-accurate gloves and sunglasses off eBay for less than a single Abbyshot jacket would cost (if they even made them in my size anymore).
Also, although the Abbyshot jacket is a softer, thicker leather, with a thicker lining, that can add up to being too hot to wear here in Southern California...
As for customer service, they've been pretty good to me. And yes, the clothes come from Pakistan, but I've gotten my orders in as little as ten days so I don't really care where it comes from (some orders do come directly from their New York office).
They're also really good about doing custom orders. Just be very clear about what you want. Bottom line, Southbeach is not as good as Abbyshot, but it IS very good stuff for the price in my opinion. Just wanted to give another viewpoint.
I'll try to post some pictures soon.

Re: Mad Max Jacket
Just won a Southbeach jacket for $180.00 aus. It wasnt till I won it I read the comments. I did email about the shoulder pads and they replied it was hard leather. I have watched the start of MM and all the jackets are very thin leather or maybe vinyl, remember it had a small budget. This one looks rather thick which is ok but I think I will change the pads, any info on where to find them?
Love the MM2 jacket page 2, refering to the pad as a flap flap, it did appear it looks correct but it was under the gridiron pad, and yeh the cut off sleeve was all wrong. Dont think I could walk around with a sleeve missing

Just got my Abbeyshot jacket in, the quality and fit are awesome. For anyone ordering one I recommend having measurements of your shoulders, arms and torso taken by someone who knows about tailoring and discuss the numbers with their staff. I needed the shoulder width of the large size but the arm and body lengths for that size would have been way too long and it would look like a tent on me. It cost an extra $100 or so for what turned out to be custom fit garment. This is money well spent and I will probably be living in this baby when the weather cools off. When will Summer be over?!

My Southbeach jacket arrived today but needs alterations. I'm impressed with the quality I thought it was going to be thick leather but it is soft and easy to wear. If you watch the MFP at the start of MM you can tell by the wind blowing it is the soft version. Have posted a pic, will send another after alterations....

Southbeach Leather offers great value, but you don't always know what type of leather you're going to get. It's all cow hide, but thickness varies. For instance, my Southbeach jacket is not as soft as yours and will need some breaking in. And I bought two pairs of leather pants from them and the leather on each is different.
As for the wind blowing the MFP jackets at the beginning of MM1, that's because those jackets were made of vinyl.

Finally just as the heatwave hits my jacket arrived. With the many alterations that had to be done it fits rather well, maybe another inch around the gut wouldnt hurt, but overall I am happy with it.....but
those damn leather shoulder caps, has anyone come up with a solution. I emailed abbeyshot for a price on their caps but they had none to spare, but never got my hopes up..anyway
Please, the caps........HELP!!!!!!!
