Southern California Mad Max Cars?

Post by PursuitSpecial »

I just got this email, thought I'd pass it along...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr. Gibbs,

I'm an associate producer with Amity Pictures in L.A. We're currently producing an independent documentary about the vehicles of Mad Max and we're looking for someone in the LA are who may own a replica interceptor, as we're interested in shooting some footage of their cars in action for our documentary. I noticed on your site that Phillip Mosness, Paul M., or Jeff Butler all lived in Southern California and I was wondering if you could pass their contact information on to me, or pass my inquiry on to them.

Please feel free to contact me if you think you may be able to help.

Thank you for your time.

Sounds great.
It would be good to find out the inclination and the tone of the documentary before getting involved. You would hate to present yourself and your vehicle and then later find out the documentary is about exhibiting "Weirdo's and their Hobbies"

A cursory google search found no such company...

Not to piss on yer parade, but I'd check further the background of the 'company'. This'd be the perfect ruse to set up theft/fraud and shit like that. Been reading some very scummy stories of jerkoffs cruising bike/car/whatever message boards to obtain details and particulars of posters to steal their stuff. Gain someone's trust online, no tellin' what'cha' will find out.

Not sayin', just sayin'...

Cheers

The fact this person has provided a personal gmail email address gives the impression they dont have a webite and that they dont even have a domain name?

Most company's will use their own business name as their domain name for their website and the email address will be linked to that site.

As the guys have said... find out as much as you can first before giving away peoples names and addresses. (this is also a good way to get your car stolen etc).

And my own personal opinon is that its a bit odd that an American company is showing interest in the history of vehicles in MadMax in the USA?? I would understand a doco on American fans owning MadMax replicas.... but the history of the MadMax vehicles??

It would be the same if an Australian company did the "History of the General Lee Charger in Australia"... it just doesnt gel well.
We are 100% snafu....

Your dead right Sam.
The easiest place to sell a stolen interceptor would be japan or the middle east.
The latter not requiring proof of sale upon import.
Look we may be talking worst case scenario here, but it should still be considered.

There WAS an Amity Pictures, but their last movie was in 1932. http://www.imdb.com/company/co0021594/

The address rang a bell, because my wife works a few blocks away. Looks like an office building with lots of other businesses, but #208 (12655 WEST Washington) is shown as "JE Holdings, Inc." Still, I'm sure there are a lot of movie "companies" that don't have offices on a studio lot. At least it's not just an apartment building or PO box.
