The Maverick shotty should hold 5 rounds in the magazine. I myself just picked up a Uberti-made Colt Richards Type-2 conversion in .45LC. I threw together some black powder loads the other day to try her out. SWEET!! Just love the smoke and flash and thunder-boom report.

How is the Maverick quality-wise? Is $175 a good used price?
I just thought of another question to ask. What is the recommended magazine capacity for a shotgn?

Re: another gun thread
Hi, I had a "Maverick 88" and I found out after I bought it that there is very little aftermarket fix-up goodies for it. I wanted to get stuff like a folding stock, extended mag, vented barrel gaurd.. etc., to give it the "urban assault" look. I should have held out and bought either a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870. PLENTY of goodies for those! If you are going to leave it alone, then the Maverick should be ok for home defense. I don't think I would stock up on heavy loads like 00 buck for home use... I'd say #4 or so.. perhaps the gun guys might chime in on shot sizes. Hope the info helps! Mike

I went to the one gun store on Dec 31. It was really crowded. On the used rack, there was a shotgun that I can't remember which brand, that they wanted I think $359 for. There were also 2 12ga made by a company called Kahn. I don't remember what price they were. They both had an interesting feature: there was some sort of finger/thumb protusion on the shiny piece of metal inside the load/eject opening.
