There is a face guard on sale at e-bay that is a replica of JIm Goose's. It is very accurate. Please check it out. I am not sure how to post links but if you search it using "Mad Max Helmet", you will find it.

To me it looks close to the original but it seems to be missing the definition. The ebay one seems smoother and less defined.

This one looks vacuformed. You usually lose some surface detail in the vaccing process.
But it's still a good replica. I'll let everyone know how good it is if I win it.

Its actually fiberglass. I made it. It is as close to the original as I can make it. The pictures don't do it justice, apparently.

I used regular woven sheets. chopped strand is too difficult to get to conform to the curves and stay that way. I tried is a couple of times but it ends up being too thick and not flexible enough for the snaps to hold. You could pop rivet the thicker ones to your helmet but that is probably not the way to go. Vacuum forming would be good if I could get my hands on some regular polystyrene sheets in black. "We have the technology, we can rebuild him."

I think that 3rd picture makes it look like it lacks definition, but the 1st and 2nd look much more like the original.
Vacuum forming would definitely take definition away. The only way to get close would be too create an extremely defined version of the guard first, and that would just be ridiculous.
The original that I have looks to be injection-molded.

Thanks Karol. I appreciate the kind words. I do have the ability to make a few more. I am not sure how many more though because of the weather. Once it gets too cold I can't produce them in my garage anymore. The resin tends to stink up the house and the wife doesn't like that too much. The reason the pictures lack definition is due to the crappy background and lighting. I took a couple more pictures outside and they are much better. Not as good as I would like, but better. I will post them later if I can't get really good ones.
