Re: TIRE age hazzard
Earlier in the year we had 3 of our trucks have blowouts on their steering tyres.
All of the tyres were the same brand, so this caused plenty of concern.
Infact a representative of the manufacturer came down to inspect the tryes on the trucks we had as tyre failure on semi-trailers is a big deal and obviously if there is a bad batch it would cost the company millions.
A report came back stating that a combination of: age of the tyres, underinflation (which was found on 80% of the fleet), and the fact that our trucks sit for too long (up to 6 months at a time) wouldve been a contributing in the failure of the tyres in the other trucks.
Most of us were well aware of the problem that some of these trucks sat for months at a time in the sun and were never moved. This isnt good for many reasons.
My XB has 2 very old tyres on the front and since the car rarely moves, they have developed large cracks in the firewall. At a guess the tyres are well over 8yrs old now.

But if you finished your car, that wouldn't be a problem.

Re: TIRE age hazzard
i have an honorable compromise, just finish the car and i spare you your life.

Re: TIRE age hazzard
Autobahn cruising speed here roundabout 160km/h (100mph)? for hours on end so tyre check is pretty vital,
An age-related limit is impossible. Temperature and use decide. Anything over 6 years is dodgy. Underinflated is asking for trouble. Standing for months on end not good, can be compensated for by extra pressure though.
