THE FERAL KID
Re: THE FERAL KID
BART: Sorry for the confusion. I was referencing the Snake Truck having 10-spoke wheels instead of the typical 8-spoked "Sunraysia/Apache/Nomad/wagon wheel" wheels, not the lug pattern. It's just like on the red XA, I always thought that they were the Sunraysia's until I paused and zoomed the roll-up in the Compound scene, and noticed they were 12-slotters. As a modeler, you look at the details as well...just neat trivia that you don't normally see on the screen sometimes...just like the fifth rivet/screw in the BoB's left light cover.

Re: THE FERAL KID
Emil,
Very cool story about the "Fight" at the KOOKABURRA CAFE. The photo with the mask is totally awesome too!
The "Chief of the Great Northern Tribe" signiture reminds me; of all the cool things about MM2 that I like personally, nothing else quite compairs to this:
Every time I see the opening or closing Narration (Particularly that "Chief of the Great Northern Tribe" line, as you are looking out the back window of the Bus), I get goosebumps & the hair on the back of my neck stands on end. I know its coming every time (obviously) but it still gets me even after seeing the film 100 times or so.
I thought it would be intresting for you to know, that as thrilling as all the Vehicular action is (and I am a gearhead with no doubt), the most mentally powerfull moment (for me) is the "same person" connection between the "my life fades/my vision dims" old man telling the story and the Feral Kid amid the waste who flurishes due to the sacrifice of this man in his distant memories. Its a powerful film (or maybe I should harden up), what can I say? I suppose we will all be looking back on these moments at the end of our days with a story to tell.

MFP1....Don`t have to harden up, as you have to be hard to watch it and feel what the movie is about and you definately have this film in your blood. Your a true Fan....
I don`t want to dump too many pics in such a short time as I`d like this to carry on in the fullness of time. But I have three shots of the BOB rollover. Here`s one for now.
They had put heaps of dirt in the car before the rollover to make it look spectacular (if you can call destroying the BOB) spectacular.

Re: THE FERAL KID
Sorry for the confusion on the snake truck replica Emil.Anyway,Do you remember if the BoB they wrcked was in good shape or not? or was it a rot bucket worthy of its destruction? Its funny how both cars in the movie still exist, the star car incorrectly restored and in a car museum in the UK and the wreck's remains rusting in some horders Aussie back 40.

Hey Big Bopper Bart...
I do remember they absolutely trashed it, it was worse than you see it after the roll where it layed in the movie as they had to move it after and they rolled it numorous times and they wrecked it even more...

Cool pics EMIL. I can go back and look at the "today" pics we took on vacation and pinpoint the locations better. If you guys look in the "Replica Cars" section under "BoB at Broken Hill," I marked out where 3 out of 4 positions were on Google Earth. The car seemed to be in good condition since it was used as a back-up filming car.

Emil,
As many have already iterated , thank you for contributing your first hand knowledge and experiences from the filming of a movie that is not only dear to most of us here, but also life altering to many of the people on this forum as well. The memory of watching MM2 in our local theater is as vivid to me today as it was the day I watched it as a 17 year old in the summer of '81.
David Frake ( Mr. GT of GT Ford Performance in Melbourne ) received the email below from a gentlemen after he saw the behind the scenes photo of the Interceptor wreak. Don't know how true it is that Mr. Wyness owns the car or not...

Hello Dave,
Great pic. My friend Derek Wyness still owns that car & it started life as a yellow fairmont coupe v8.I looked at its chassis number.
The bonnet was welded up & it was put on some tracks to help it get down the hill.

Re: THE FERAL KID
Thanks Mark, thats interesting info on the 2nd car, I was not aware that that was what they had done before the roll. Makes sense especially as they rolled it a few times and would have to make something to get it down the hill again.
Here is a picture of one of the holdes (skull car). That`s obviously me standing up through the roof, My brother to the far left, and not sure who is in the fron passenger seat. You can see one of the BOB`s in the background.
