I recently received an interesting e-mail from Byron Mills, the owner of Byron's Homepage:The Home of The HQ Holden on The Web (http://www.webone.com.au/~bmills/) and found the letter to be quite interesting. According to Byron (and I hope he doesn't mind me quoting him): "The monaro you talk about is a mighty big tough HQ LS Monaro, Its in the opening scene and
driven by the "Nightrider" and his interesting girlfriend. You can tell its a LS from the few interior
shots of the car. Unfortunately the LS had a little incident and was crashed. Have you noticed that the Night rider drives a 2 door LS monaro, but when you see the thing crash and go spinning up the road its a BLACK 4-door sedan that bites the dust. Ive written to a few people a couple of years ago interested in what happened to the car after the
movie was shot. The guy I spoke to said that it was sold to a wrecker after the movie and nobody knows what happened to the black beast coupe after that. He didnt have any details on body numbers or engine, or anything so god only knows ere the thing is now."
I haven't checked my copy of Mad Max yet to verify the pressence of a 4dr right before the car blows up. I've seen the pick here of the 2 dr propelled by a rocket, so if they used a 4dr, it must have been just right before it blew. I'll have to watch it frame by frame.
The Fate of the Nightrider Monaro??

No. I've watched it enough to say that with some authority. It is 2-door all the way.
I even double checked. When the Monaro finally tails first into the junk--"something" flys up before it hits.
Check it out.

They cut up the back end of the car and mounted a solid fuel rocket in there. Do you really think whatever was left of the shell of the car survived the film?
