The Nightrider...whooo, scary...

Post by Brent »

Why do you think the Nightrider was automatically scared of Max? How did he know MAx was gonna get him? He started blubberin' "Its gone...its all gone..." and he never even met Max ( I think)

I've always wondered about that, mostly I wondered how it was that Max's

car was able to catch him, since Nightrider was driving a pursuit special, which

was supposed to be the "ducks guts". Maybe he was out of gas, who knows

I think the reason he was scared of Max was because when they were going head to head Max didnt swerve, I think perhaps he realised that he wasnt as badarse as liked to believe he was.

As far as Max being able to catch him, in the Madmax novel it says that nightriders car was pretty beat up and well thrashed and not running so well anymore.

Still i thought it was a little odd myself that after all hed been through that hed get so upset and throw the towel in like that, not much of a toughguy.

I'd always figured it this way. He was at full throttle, there was no more speed in the car. Then comes the game of Chicken. Max rattled him. Then caught the Monaro EASILY. (Presumably 'cause max's Interceptor was WAY hotter than the "super hot" Pursuit Special)

By this time Nightrider realized he couldn't intimidate this Bronze, and would not escape. His adrenaline high had faded, and exhaustion set in

Put simply, his Balls fell off.

My take on it is this:

When Max played chicken with Nightrider and won, that sort of snapped Nightrider back to reality, as evidenced by his reaction (shaking his head and then looking over his shoulder as if to say "Hey what the heck am I doing?!") It's possible he was on an adrenaline high, or some other high, and the shock of nearly getting killed brought him down.

Pretending the cars are more than they are

As far as the cars, and what they're loaded with, I think we're supposed to

pretend they are loaded with everything and anything that will increase their performance. In real life the Monaro probably didn't have a dynamo engine, but we're to pretend it had a monster of one, in addition to it being fuled by nitrous. However, based on the tone of your letter, you were just kiding, and already knew that. Well, take it easy :)
