Was this covered in the novelizations - what really happened between MM1 and MM2?
For instince, what became of the MFP? It would be a fantastic storyline to see the final battle
& demise of the officers featured in MM1. To really see the bombs fall and experience the action of Max
rigging up the Interceptor with the extra tanks and tearing out of the city for the last and final time.
I'm sure it would be a difficult task to gather together the original cast (looking 2 decades older),
but the opening montage of MM2 has always stirred a lot of "what ifs" in my head.

The novelization of MM3 had a dream in which Max was with Jessie again. Also it said something about when he wandered out into the wasteland it was just a short time until the world destroyed itself.

My sister always wondered why we don't see a villain with his foot cut off at the ankle who recognizes Max. I always told her it was because Johnny the Boy was "never gonna learn" how to survive...

I assumed that once Max quit the MFP, he never went back.
I was also under the impression that after his wife and son became road-kill,
he turned renegade, and stole the interceptor. Presumably then, after
killing Toe-cutter and his cronies, he didn't go back to the MFP, and
just crawled into a hole somewhere, or just became a nomad. I don't think the MFP would exactly welcome him back either,
they were violent in their criminal aprehension methods, but they didn't espouse
all out murder. They'd at least give the bad guy an opportunity to give up. There were
some legal restraints they operated under.
