Can I throw an ugly suggestion into the convo .....there seems to be a growing group of people who don't believe Martin Bryant was the gun man at Port Arthur,he who was supposedly the reason for the crack down on gun ownership implemented by Lil Johnny.
Now I'm only repeating what I've read - the fact he hadn't handled a gun since age 12 when his dad took away his air rifle....the fact he could barely hit soft drink cans on a fence with the same air rifle....the fact he was naturally clumsy with his hands and body....the fact he is intellectually disabled and unable to forward plan any sequence of events....the fact the Tassie police had his ID before any of the victims were able to report what he looked like, beyond his blonde hair......
I have my baseball bat called Milo....coz it's marvelous what a difference Milo makes.

Well.. Did get delayed. Dammit.Quote: Originally posted by OverheadCam on 20 October 2006What did you decide to buy Fox?
Maybe this coming Friday.
Decided on a Lever action .357 Magnum/.38 Special "Cowboy" Rifle".

Another thing I'd spend money on if I ever hit the lottery.
A nice little gun collection and a big safe to keep it all in.
One I'm looking at, but can't afford is the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 627.
.357 Magnum revolver carrying 8 rounds.
And again, MNO (Money No Object), I'd hire a good gunsmith to Modify/Build a Grapeshot LeMat replica to fire .357/.38 and a 20g Shotgun shell.
Maybe even have inserts for the shotgun barrel allowing me to shoot other ammo's out of there as well..
Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
Additional: Forget where I heard this, but it's a nice little Truism..

Stay away from the Classic Whinchester....Whinchester have stopped making guns (slaps forehead) so parts availability may be an issue. Marlin make the best (if you can afford one) they come with a pistol grip and lever and side eject so you can scope 'em!
the .357 are great fun gun...great for plinking and excellent in the 'brush' when pigs break cover at your feet!...and, as you mentioned...a good excuse to get a revolver!

Well, Crap.
I was originally told that they would do Layaway on special Order Rifles & Shotguns for 10% down.
Now they tell me they need 50% down.
So I need to Save up $200.
(Mrs. X-Ray's use the gun on ME if I pulled $200 out of the bank all at once)

Well there's your excuse to her to buy the wheelgun...protection from her for spending all her hard earned cash on "big boys toys"

P.S.
I thought it was just a 'stock' pic you were using!

From the top.
Was going to have that rifle ordered, then placed on Layaway.
I was originally told "10% down on special order guns"
(HYes, that's a "Stock" pic of the Marlin 1894C I'm going to have ordered)
Told Friday that they need 50% Down (Just shy of $200) which will cause me a delay.
So unless I want to pick one out of Stock.. (And gthe only ones they have that I like is a $550 Ruger Mini-14 and some Nice, but unimpressive .22 rifles.
Which "Wheelgun are you referrin' to? The S&W i mentioned?
That one's just a wish.
Things are upwards of $800
Sorry if I was Unclear.

Nice choice Foxtrot. The Marlin in .357Mag is a fine rifle. Is there a reason you went with a civilian-type rifle as opposed to a military design? (AR-15, M-1, M1A, Kalashnikov) Do you live in a Ban state?
Just this morning I started building a Romanian AKM for a buddy. Got all the riveting done except for the rear trunion and pressing in the barrel and checking the headspace. I'll try to post a pic when it's done.

No bans on such weapons here that I'm aware of.
Obviously, fully automatic weapons are not allowed.
So in a Semi-Auto (Or Lever action or whatever) what's the point of having one that looks like a Fully Automatic?
Mostly, though.. I pick what I like based on appearance (Art) as much as function.
