How many of us ride?

Post by revline »

It's all off-road rigs for me MX, Enduro, Trials, Downhillers (mountain bikes). oh also supermotard madness on the road. Street bikes just bore the hell outta me unless there are monos (wheelys) endos (stopies) drifting, gutter bounces brake slides, supermotard foot down tripod style. The middle of the night is the best time to ride here, there are a lot of riders that just ride slow and make a hell of a racket and swerve all over the road .....the call them Bosozoku but I just can't see the fun in riding slow and revin the hell outta ya motor in the middle of the night and call that fun? Not for me! 2 stroker clutch fannin' brakin' into corners and wheelin' out in peak power all the time that's my style, quite a thrill and crazy dangerous. Fell of the back a few times. Broke ribs. Slid of the road a bunch of times and slide under oncoming traffic once...........hopefully that once won't happen again....trust me cars hurt!

A 82 KZ1000 J done up as seen for RW151 in (as Mitch would put it) Mad MAX universe style.... Satin black, Clubmans, 8inch head light in a Goose style custom fairing (signed by Vernon Wells), lowered a bit shortened alot, etc, etc. etc. Parts from six differnt year and as many brands.....

Also have an 82 KZ 550 ltd, done up kind of Max meet rat rod style... Satin black with bone scalops on the tank, bobbed, drag bars, Triumph solo seat, custom filter horns, Ural headlight with speed-o, and some trick cheese holed steel side plates.... Built for 16yr old son to ride to HS....

Plan on bringing them both to the next RW event, with Mitch in September...

Used to do abit of desert riding on my old CR480 Honda.. had abit of work done to it, and that bike would fly ! Before that had a Bultaco Sherpa T 350...lol..

Have not riden in years though, shipped the CR480 to Oz on one of my trips, did some riding there then sold it. Just started buying more cars after that and let the bike fun fall by the way side.. too many other projects and things to keep busy with now, ha ha..

Been riding bikes since I was 16. My parents foolishly said I should have my own transport to go to work. So I got a moped first and progressed up the food chain. I've been riding bikes of one type or another snce then. Haven't done much customising, I figured they come off the production line handling pretty well as is, and I can't weld for sh*t. So I just tend to make cosmetic changes to suit my tastes. Making them different from what Mr Honda might have liked. I'm really into rat bikes and especially the Mad Max influence

The early years found me favouring dirt bikes. Mostly Honda XL's but I bought a Honda CBX750F and my heart was turned to road bikes. Sold the CBX 2 days before first daughter was born, we figured she deserved having a Dad around at least in her early years and went back to riding a 250. As she got older, and another daughter arrived, I then got a ratty GPz550 (a KZ to you foreigners) After that died I got another Kawk, then another which is the one I still have today. A 20 year old GPz600R. Not standard but with several little changes including a custom made top yoke to accept Renthal dirt bike bars for a "proper" riding position. In fact I've just spent the last 4 hours fiddling around with it and bleeding the back brake after the master cylender seized. toying with the idea of chopping the arse end off and tunring it into a single seater. France has no MOT laws so you can get away with some pretty radical silhouettes over here

This make ya laff. I was 18 and found myself with a much thrashed 125 Yammy 2 stroke single, my XL had been killed by a drunk driver and me nearly along with it. So I got chatting with my little brother and said "Shall we go for a riding holiday?" "Yup" says he, so we loaded up a tent, sleeping bags etc with little bro' on his Yamaha 100 and headed off from Canterbury, Kent, one sunny day in August. 4 days later we were 500+ miles further away and about as far as you can go North in mainland UK at John O'Groats. No one told us we shouldn't attempt it on such small bikes and we didn't know any better, so we just did it anyway and had a great time going and returning.

Hence the nickname Biker. My real name is Aaron as is said by BBB when I've pissed him off!

Just started riding in May. Bought a 2005 Honda Rebel to start on. I like the Kawasaki Eliminators, so maybe I'll get one next year.

Karol, enjoy the ride! It's too bad I don't have a bike anymore, we could get together and cruise.

I started on a moped in 1983, then got a Yamaha 50 (not much more than a moped, but I actually had to shift). I bought a Honda CM400T from a friend at work and used that for a year....then traded the whole kit and kaboodle in for a Honda CB750 Custom in 1986. I rode that for about eight years, then shopped for a new engine; I bought a 900cc that fit in the same frame, installed that, and rode for a few more years. I finally gave the bike to a longtime friend in 2004, and haven't rode since. If I ever get another bike, it will be shaft drive, liquid cooled, and probably Japanese.
