Their jackets will be leather too....not vinyl. If anyone has any knowledge of what was used for the shoulder pads on Max's jacket please post here or contact Adam at Abbyshot with the info.

Max's Jacket....update #2
Yeah, let us know when ur Max jacket is ready to sell ... Im looking for a jacket like this since im 15. Some japanese fans have done a great job on MFP replica jacket, but Imo not accurate enough and way too expensive.
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

ABBYSHOT: Greetings: Have you guys considered 1:16" or 2mm black ABS vac-forms? That way they can be shaped in a male or female mold and thin enough to sew through with an industrial-grade machine. The other option is to rivet them on, then hand whip the edges after pre-drilling the holes...labor-intensive though.
Just a couple of ideas for you...Cheers.
Max's Jacket....update #2
Hello, all.
I used to have some old baseball leg guards that I cut up to use for parts of a "Max" jacket. If I remember correctly, my shoulder plates were one of the knee-area pieces. Here are some pics of what I have in mind:

I am not able to remember the manufacturer of the guards that I had, but the parts that I used were very similar to the MFP's shoulder plates. Unfortunately, all of the modern variety shin guards have all sorts of raised panels on them. My plates were smooth, had small stitching holes in them, were very stiff, and had the right amount of curve in them. They were definately plastic, but very hard.

...well, I have to say that I was wrong. I salvaged my shoulder plates from my flooded house, and tried to soak the rust stains & wrotten leather from them. The plates began to soften & lose thier shape. They are made of either leather (maybe not, because my various leather jackets were decomposing), some type of pressed wood product (like Masonite), or treated pressed paper.
As soon as I can clean them up a little more, I will post a photo of them.
