Max Costume on a Budget

Post by Mitch »

I know there are some purists out there who turn their nose up at anything that is not totally movie accurate (e.g. proper model rawlings pad, custom jacket and boots, etc.), but I feel there are more people who would like to put together an outfit within a reasonable budget. Sourcing out the proper pad, paying over $1000 for the correct jacket and another $250 for boots is fine for the fanatically dedicated, but for the average Joe there are some reasonable alternatives.

I was amused by one catalog I receive called Sportsmans' Guide, which is kinda like a one-stop Mad Max costume source. They have reasonably priced biker jackets that can be modified or worn as-is. Also have leather pants, gloves and engineer boots. They can be found online at http://www.sportsmansguide.com. All you need then is a badge, some pins and a blue t-shirt, which Wal Mart carries for about $5.00.

Or if you wanna do a Road Warrior outfit, these pieces are a good starting point.

Anybody else have sources for costuming on a budget?
