Yeah, I know how frustrating dealing with studios can be. I'm coming from a toy and action figure-making background so I've dealt with dozens of licensors. I did just successfully seal a deal with Universal studios to bring one of their big trilogies to the comic book pages in an Image mini series coming out sometime next year, so I have faith it can be done.

What can I say? All of you guys have really inspired me. I have about three minis in mind, one taking place in between "Mad Max" and "Mad Max 2", featuring the black on black in all of it's glory, and the other two would happen in between "MM2" and "Thunderdome", as we have close to twenty years to play around with there. Calculate that with three adaptations and a possible "Fury Road" adaptation, and you have soem pretty good output there. Duno, Good Lord willing, I will be able to contact Miller and get this ball rolling. Maybe interest will be strong enough to generate a new series of action figures, superior to the ones released before. I mean, the second series was a vast improvement, and I was dewfinitley looking forward to the 12" figures and the vehichles, then...splat. The first series...ugh. No articulation, and Max towered over Humungus and Gyro Captain. But, bad Mad Max figures are better than no Mad Max figures at all, right?

I agree with whoever said, not to make it to 'Cartoony', you check out the new DAWN OF THE DEAD, or ARMY OF DARKNESS comics, and though gory, and sh*t, they're just not detailed and serious enough.

The LEATHERFACE comics released in 91' are perfect, you got a room of a Cannibal, who's also a genius inventor, and the artist filled every corner of his workshop with detail, this comic everytime i read it, has so much detail i spend atleast 10 minutes on each page, just looking through the rooms, and woods in the backgrounds the characters are in. you got a scene in the bush, and your not even looking at the carnage right in the centre, your looking at the snake up in the tree, eating the rat, or the pairs of eyes of some wild cat in the bushes.

The HELLRAISE comics are similiar. Reminds me of the artwork that IRON MAIDEN used to get done for their Album covers, that artist DEREK RIGGS, knew you'd be looking so he threw in secrets every where for you to spot.

thats what i wanna see...

I'm sure you'd get plenty of support and critique from all of here on your ideas and your work. Would be glad to give support to anyone who is serious about tackling this.

Hey this sounds like a fantastic Idea!!! When doing the "Film Adaptations" be sure to read the novels, and try to score copies of the originsl film scrpits..... for example (aside from deleted scenes) there is the whole "Transcon 1", and formation of the M.F.P./ maxes "Boot Camp" thing which could almost be a whole book in itslef, if you fleshed out the chapter or so of backstory with action etc. DO IT!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Also, are you the guys who are doing the comic about the "Environ-Metal" superhero band R.I.P. from Seattle? I heard that some new indie comic company noticed how many copies of their independantly produced first issue cleared, and decided to pick it up as a series? I think I saw a bit about it at www.angelfire.com/de/rip

in any case, do the mad max books, and the R.I.P. books if thats you guys (they sort of have a "Mad Max, meets KISS" look).

No, sadly, that is not me/us. We are a small company just starting up here in Texas. I am trying not to turn this into a plug, but if you would like you can always check out our site at http://www.us-n-them-comics.is-online.net. I am the head writer, and the first title we will be releasing is one I created called "Drifter". It is heavily inspired by George Miller and by the old Robert E. Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs books. But this is not the place to discuss that.

I do have copies of all three novelizations (though I am disappointed at the undetailed approach taken to the novel of Mad Max 2). The adaptation of the first o ne is recommended reading...radically different from the film, and though the author is billed as 'Terry Kaye', I understand that it was actually written by Terry Hayes, who co-wrote the last 2 MM films (any one know why Terry wasn't tapped to co-write 'Fury Road'?)

I am a bit saddened to see that no one apparently knows any way to contact Miller...I won't give up hope, however. As a wise man once said, 'Don't count out *Us and Them* until you see the box go in the hole!"

I can't wait to discuss story ideas with you guys...if we can get this going, I'll run my ideas by ya'll first, just to make sure we can retain that "Aussie spirit"!

See you on the road, bronze!!
