Burning Man

Post by Karol »

Burning Man was fun. The Thunderdome was awesome - the best thing there.

There was a lot of dust. I had fun wearing my costumes. I will put pics up on my site soon.

Overall, I was a little disappointed. I expected there to be a lot more interesting things to see and do. I also felt that 95% of the people there weren't really my crowd. Most of them were ultra left-wing raver/hippies that were into Eastern mysticism, alternative medicine & lots of drugs.

I would think twice about going again. If I do go again, I would bring more good costumes and try to plan my week around scheduled events instead of just playing it by ear.

I figure that I should try other things like Sci-Fi conventions or my Roadwar 101 event. I will probably get more of what I'm looking for there.

Karol...you summed it exactly how I thought it would be. I'm not overly "conservative" but I really had the feeling that Burning Man would just not be my "thing". Hell, I did some illegal things in the 80's...but I "grew up". Some of those guys never have, or will. I think your idea to pour your energies into Roadwar 101 and Sci-Fi conventions is a real smart move! Good luck on that! Wish I could be there, but someone has to teach America's youth in public education!Image
