Roadwar 101 event

I have an idea for a fun get-together for owners of Mad Max replica cars and bikes that I'd like to organize. Here's the deal:

We get as many Roadwarrior-inspired cars and bikes together as we can. We get every passenger and driver in a costume. At about noon on Halloween day 2004 (Sunday), we head out from downtown San Francisco, onto highway 101, and drive like madmen until we reach San Jose (about a 1 hour drive). Once in San Jose, we will stop for lunch and hang out.

I think it would be so cool to be in costume, in a Mad Max vehicle, and see other Mad Max cars and bikes and costumes around you, while everyone is weaving in and out and accelerating just like the vehicles in the final chase scene.

What do you guys think?

Well,I would love to be there,but it is a bit of a drive from northern Oregon.Bill

Bill-

Well, it has to happen somewhere. No matter where it happens, there will be fans who will have to be willing to drive a ways to get there. I would think it would be worth it if the event is organized well and a lot of guys come out.

I thought the San Francisco area would be as good as anywhere because:

It's a highly-populated and beautiful area of the country. Fans could do some sight-seeing when they're here. There are the cities, silicon valley, the wine country, etc.
The strip of highway 101 is the same as represented in the film The Matrix Reloaded, so it has an appeal for Matrix fans.
The Death Guild is situated here. They are the "Mad Max" theme camp from the Burning Man event. They have several Mad Max-type cars and bikes that could be part of the caravan; and the more vehicles we can get for this event, the better it will be.

If someone else has any better ideas, I'm open to hearing them.

Well,I am game for considering it,as I have no HUGE trips/shows planned this summer and have been thinking about a Cali road trip anyway (relatives and House of Mouse to visit).Do you have any idea of a time frame or place or if any of the SoCal replicas would be going?Cheers,Bill

Like I said, I think Halloween weekend would be a good time. That way, it will be after Burning Man, where I will get a chance to meet the Death Guild. Also, wearing costumes is appreciated and socially acceptable on Halloween. Halloween this year lands on a Sunday. Fans could drive to the San Francisco area for the weekend. If you're from SoCal, you could take off after lunch on Sunday and be home by bedtime.

I will start scouting for places to start and end the drive. All we need is a parking lot in San Francisco, and a restaurant in San Jose. That's the easy part.

You are the only one that I has responded to my post, so I don't have any idea if anyone else is interested. Perhaps other fans will write. If not, I will have to write them.
