Correcting the Aoshima Interior?

Wow! On the Oashima model kit.....Lots of work to be done!

One of the first things I'm going to do is the interior DOOR SKINS....has anyone gave any thought about starting from scratch and having just the door framework showing?

After looking even closer at the Model....

I'm leaving out the whole interior shell! if you look at pics of the MM2 interior its down to the bare floor .....which would be the bottom part of the kit plus on real cars....if you take out the seats and carpet that what you have anyways....same goes for the trunk....The upper part of the 'cars' petro tank would need to be added ..BUT!....what did they mount the two extra Petro Tanks to to get them that high? hmmmmm.

I have done many mods to my Road Warrior version with the front end smashed off.[/font]

The interior has many changes to reflect the movie version that is quite different from the Aoshima model version.[/font]

I actually ground down the door panel pleats and opened up square and round holes to simulate a bare door shell.[/font]

I've added a roll bar behind the front seat and a small one under the dash.[/font]

The roll bars are to thick but that's ok because I used tree stock from the Aoshima kit to complete this option.[/font]

The shelf behind the roll bar is moved back to show only the main big box as opposed to how it came in the kit.[/font]

The only thing I didn't do was remove the lower rear seat, because I didn't want to scratch build replacement pieces.[/font]

I've even added an engine and engine bay to mine as well as opening the hood to display the engine.[/font]

Do ya have a Z28? up till last year I had a 71 RS.

Sounds cool! do you have any pics?

I will thin out the hood around the scoop opening but leave it closed....there are some really cool after market blower pulleys and wheels I might use.

Hello Fastcat.

Ya, I own a 71 Camaro that has 70 front seats and steel cowl induction hood. When I was fresh out of high school, years ago, I owned a 70 Z28 that I ran into the ground and never had the money to fix. So now that I am older I decided it was time to get another Camaro and rebuild it to an everyday driver that still looks good to. If I knew how to post pics, I would have. I also own a 57 Chev Belair 2 door hard top that needs so much work it's not funny. It's been sitting in the garage for the last 5 years waiting patiently for its day to run in the sun.

Right now I am busy adding working headlights and tail lights on my Aoshima Road warrior, will send pics to this website when finished. I will also probably weather the body and be finished with it.

Sounds cool! I just sanded off all the exterior seem lines from the body shell.

I was thinking about getting some thin copper sheet and etching my own head light frames....the decal supplied with the kit is just too much!

I hope who ever was selling Dinki Di Dog food lables still has some....That would be great! for kicks and to have something to shrink down to put on that box of dog food you see in the car in the film.

Barry....I would not use that part that has the rear seat at all!....if you think about it ..... the very bottom part is all you need anyways.....just like in a real car. In the film... the area where the back seat WAS is just flat storage....like where the dog laid down and where he had the Gyro bird man held while driving.....Remember...The Dog with the trigger thingy?....heehehe!
